Horrifying as ever to see more and more useless bastards failing upwards. Cameron's return to power and surprise peerage are a real eye roller.
'New Conservatives' is the more acceptable name for the group that was also founded by Coates and Kruger, the 'New Social Covenant Unit' which is a group of Tory MP Evangelical Christians promoting far- right ideology in the name of enacting far-right christianity in the same way that US christo-fascist politicians like Mike Johnson are now becoming powerful. They are supported financially by these US groups too.
The conservative organisation recognised that educated people do not vote in their favour. There is a tin foil hat theory that they do not fund state education on purpose precisely for that reason. DIRECT DEMOCRACY: An Agenda for a New Model Party. page 12
The decline in Conservative support has been particularly marked among the most educated. This is not always obvious since more education is associated with higher income, and higher income is still (just) associated with stronger Conservative support. However, other factors being held constant, the more educationally qualified someone is, the less likely he or she is to support the Conservatives. This is a problem to the extent that the more educated are likelier to vote, and are often influential in leading the opinion of others. It is also, of course, a problem in a country where nearly half of young people are now going to university.
The list of authors at the end will interest you also.

Quite a few of those groups have a lot of crossover, so members of the ERG are also in the Covid and climate change groups. They can probably muster enough to force a vote but she's got no chance of winning. It might let another more moderate candidate in though (one that only bites the heads off kittens) or she acts as a John the Baptist for Farrage's takeover of the party. At the moment it looks like they are intent on tearing everything down with the hope that they can remake it in the name of the future Fuhrer.
I checked the registered list. There is only one named as I said. The links are there. the theory is that they are breaking things deliberately to make it harder for Labour to make an impact on election. There is also another rumour that Sunak is under instruction from Dominic Cummings, but there is no prove of that at all.
Just by considering Suella Braverman in a leading position shows how deranged that "New Conservatives" group must be.
The outcome of the meeting isn't public yet. They have told her to get stuffed. We will have to wait and see.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
