U.S. Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva is expected to be sworn in this week, ahead of the House vote on a government funding bill, Scripps News has confirmed.

Grijalva won a special election in Arizona's 7th congressional district in late September, but House Speaker Mike Johnson refused to swear her in. He said it was due to the House not being in session, which has been prolonged due to the government shutdown.

Yep. Either they bought someone that will flip their vote or they destroyed enough evidence that it doesn’t matter now.

I guarantee you someone’s vote was bought. We’re going to see a surprise upset soon.

And if it’s not this- we are going to find the trump’s name is magically ascent from the entire thing.

Dude fucked kids. They’re desperate to hide this. They’ve proven they’ll do anything up to and including murdering a man in prison.

Wait, I thought Mike Johnson said she wasn't sworn in due to the shutdown. If she is being sworn in before the vote to reopen the government, does that mean that Johnson was lying? Say it ain't so!

I'm starting to think we can't trust this Johnson fella at his word

Do I have the energy to be shocked anymore?

Surely the Epstein files will be released this time! Surely nothing will strangely go wrong! Surely justice will finally be served! Surely...

He's come up with a new way to stall the release of the files, or to kill it altogether.

[–] superglue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 hours ago

I mean at this point, Trumps goons have had custody of the files so long nobody is going to believe what's in them anyways.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago

No need they're going to swear in a person with a cancelling vote the same day, they're already being annoyed in airports about it.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Did the dems cave on this too and now need another vote in order to release the files?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Part of the calculation to end the shutdown was getting the files released, so no.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

You have a lot more confidence in them than I do.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, the vote count can change but it stands as we have it.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

I wouldn’t be surprised if they further capitulated to them and now that’s going to change.
