This decrepid old bastard needs to step aside. Or get shoved out of the way.

Schumer voted against the deal. Place blame where it belongs:

John Fetterman

Catherine Masto

Jacky Rosen

Angus King

Maggie Hassan

Tim Kaine

Dick Durbin

Jeanne Shaheen

These are the ones who caved.

Are people down voting because he voted to open the vote? I'm so confused, all of this is so damn confusing.

Schumer joins the republicunts in telling us to just lay back and let it happen...

You know... if I was a Russian disinfo gremlin desperate for something to pivot to after the whole "my name is Mamdani" spanking they just got I'd probably also be trying to amplify the whole "The Dems are cowards" messaging. Problem is that, thanks to years of their machinations, more people are actually checking sources and reading details now. Good.

No need for Russia to do or say anything in this case, Democrats did this to themselves

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I was thinking the same thing.

I knew Schumer wasn't one of the defectors, but they've got his name right at the top.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He started the initiative by lowballing the Healthcare and these chucklefucks doubled down. If he had stuck to the plan this would be far less likely as an outcome.

As the top Dem in the senate it is his fault because he started it. Plus we are in this position because he did the same shit in the spring.

[–] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago

Party schism time.

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

If Republicans pulled this shit on John Thune, he would primary the crap out of them.

What is Schumer going to do?

It IS his fault.

Chuck the cuck has got to go!

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 5 points 3 days ago (8 children)

In fairness, it wasn’t Schumer this time.

He organized the vote, he secured the votes, he set the schedule and did everything to make it happen.

Don't be fooled because he voted against it at the last second. He's the goddamn senate minority leader, none of this happens without his oversight. They are treating the American people the same exact way Trump treats his base: like you're an idiot and can be fooled easily by pageantry and performatism.

It's still a democracy: a leader can't compel how others vote, only persuade, negotiate, reward & punish with committee assignments, leadership roles, campaign support, etc. Republicans can't compel everyone to always vote the same, either.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

He handpicked democrats that they felt were "safe" and arent up for re-election in 2026.

This is classic DNC as controlled opposition. DNC and RNC are the same thing.

Its time for a new progressive party. Its time to go scorched earth and tank every election untill they not only allow progressives in the DNC but actually embrace them. I think its the only way to get reverse citizens united.

[–] Milk_Sheikh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 days ago

Senate Minority Leader Schumer

He’s either complicit in this scheme now that local elections are over, or ineffective at wielding the whip and keeping his caucus in line. Unless there’s a big public schism and this gang of eight get cut out, then he’s also feckless to boot.

I’m talking scorched earth retribution too, there needs to be a message sent and received to all in the party that breaking ranks for self-interest will cost them and their careers personally. Nobody gets to fold without consequence when the rest of your party’s elected members risked themselves and their position.

Maybe it's time some folks who haven't thought about going into politics to get in there. I don't know what to do anymore than strap up and put up..
