Oklahoma here. The last bright spot we had was late 2000s with Brad Henry. A Democrat mind you. After Brad? Republican majority rule for years and years. What happened to the state? Oklahoma is a perfect example of Republican leadership and we are seeing it on the national stage now. Sad.

[–] dumbluck@midwest.social 73 points 1 week ago (3 children)

We are 50th in education, not 48th. Can't even beat out Mississippi...

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 week ago

Thank God for Oklahoma!

[–] Pringles@sopuli.xyz 20 points 1 week ago

Well done Mississippi, I guess

PLEASE Remember to vote REPUBLICAN so you can LOSE your SNAP Benefits, LOSE your ability to Travel during Christmas and HELP Kidnap Children! That's MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER then being Able to afford GROCERIES!

-Senator Mullin!

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, no. Those are all the necessary sacrifices so that you don't have to see those people in your neighborhood with darker skin than you anymore. It's a great deal!

The "he's a Communist!" shit isn't fooling New Yorkers anymore.

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 101 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"Communist", "woke", "liberal" just words that mean "thing I don't like" to them

[–] nonfuinoncuro@lemmy.zip 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

insert picture of car repair book cover "this engine is woke"

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The oldie but goodie has made a comeback. "This engine is communist."

[–] nonfuinoncuro@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago

bugs bunny meme our engine

[–] Macchi_the_Slime@piefed.blahaj.zone 44 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Doesn't help that they've been calling literally anyone with a D next to their name a communist or a socialist for decades now.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I can remember when I was a kid, "socialism" was something bad the way it was talked about, but I had no idea why. As soon as I was old enough to understand what it actually meant I knew that was bullshit.

[–] runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago

And that's why education is communism to these assholes. If people know how to think they will see how terrible republican ideas are.

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 31 points 1 week ago

Republicans: "He's a communist!"

Dirty liberal/leftist/progressive New Yorkers: "Good"

A senator that doesn’t know the difference between a communist and a democratic socialist clearly has no place in our government.

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 64 points 1 week ago (2 children)

A solid portion of Americans cannot tell he difference

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Well, they do love the uneducated

What they are worried about is that it works in new York. If it works there then they are gonna have to come up with a whole lot of new lies to convince their victims/constituents that it can't work in their home state.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

They'll just lie about it working in NY and say it's not.

Say it's not, even in the face of irrefutable proof, and their brain dead supporters will eat it up and parrot it.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Yup like I said new lies. A whole lot of them.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just like how they just lie about how America is apparently great again now. Everything has been amazing and perfect since January, and there's nothing he could be doing better. Food prices are all down, gas prices are super low now. We're all winning. Believe what you hear, not what you see.

I don't see why that would matter, 'Everyone else does it but we could never do it here' has been americas whole thing as far as social justice goes for as long as I've been alive.

[–] ICCrawler@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Yeah, no. They aren't worried at all. They're just towing the line and trashing the other party as per their sides usual antics. Whether NY succeeds or fails, Republican constituents are simply too fucking dumb and loyal and will swallow whatever bullshit lie their party tells them. Worrying about what lie to make up is the least of the Right's worries.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 31 points 1 week ago

"This is gonna be really bad for you" says the senator in a heaping pile of his own shit.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 29 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Jfc. Anything or anyone they don’t like is communism. Imagine if they saw ACTUAL communism. Their tiny minds would implode

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Incan empire would blow their minds. Note their economic systems were extremely egalitarian.

The fact that NYC has over twice the population of his entire state is kinda funny.

[–] biotin7@sopuli.xyz 26 points 1 week ago (4 children)

They don't even know WHAT communism actually is

Mamdani has a pretty easy job in that these people have painted him to be the personification of Satan. He doesn’t need to do much to prove them wrong. If he keeps the city running and it doesn’t fall into the ocean, he’s already a roaring success by Republican standards.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He doesn’t need to do much to prove them wrong.

Nothing he can do will prove anything. Big Tech and Finance owned media will just lie over and over again. They'll never stop. New York's actual socio-economic condition won't be reported on, except in the most polarized "everything is horrible, please liberate our people from the tyrannical Mamdani regime" light.

You will be mentally tortured for watching TV or using the Internet until he is removed from office.

Markwayne was named after his two paternal uncles. My guess is his mom didn't know which one was the actual father.

Oklahoma, where if your family has connections to OSU athletics, like Jesse Mack Butler, you can rape and strangle girls with no consequences! He’s currently available on Tinder in the Stillwater area!

Good response from "thejeffmann." As long as the Oklahoma Oblast is red run, it will continue to fail. The dumbfuck Mullin never met a true communist.

[–] Affidavit@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

This guy's Wikipedia page shows that in his entire life, his greatest achievement is beating up 3 people.

His entire political career can be summed up as Jafar from Aladdin; he has a fetish for hurting people, but has evidently never done anything ever to actually 'help' anyone in his electorate.

If I ever became noteworthy enough to have a Wikipedia page, I would be downright ashamed to have his. How the fuck is this person an elected representative?

What does he mean by liberal states going blue? Aren't they already blue by definition?

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Well, you have sky blue, dark blue and navy blue, and then you have scary liberal communist blue. They're not the same.
