Vibecession!

People with eyes can see their bank accounts and grocery prices, dipshit

Boomer logic ..... they have life so good that they honestly believe that everyone else of every generation should be like them. They have no clue or little understanding that times have changed and people are living with little or not enough but they just don't care.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Slightly more boomers voted conservative in the last few elections than voted liberal. Slightly more of the younger generations voted liberal. The difference isn't that stark. If you attended any of the no kings protests, you saw that the overwhelming majority were older folks. This kind of age prejudice isn't helping anything.

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's what shocked me last No Kings protest. I saw tons of older folks and even some people I know are die-hard conservative Republicans with signs out in the middle of town.

Things are worse than Trump and the beltway oligarchs know. Gilded fishbowls and all that.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

At least some of the demographics is likely because older folks often have more free time to be able to get out and protest, but I know an awful lot of passionately liberal boomers.

And you're right, now that conservatives are being undeniably impacted, it seems that their support of Trump might be faltering.

Not all boomers.

Wow this is almost exactly what people were upset at joe biden for (even though biden at least attempted to reduce debt burdens). Weird how this plays out.

It’s super cool how the regime thinks they can dictate what the economy does and what socioeconomic conditions exist on the ground by just insisting that they’re true, despite copious and obvious evidence to the contrary.

To be perfectly fair to the Cheeto gremlin, which is a good deal more than he deserves:

Since he has been constantly surrounded by sycophants and yes-men for a long time, it is quite possible that he actually believes the economy is doing great due to nobody having the spine to tell him any different. All day every day it's "everything is going great, sir" and "you're the best President the planet has ever been graced with, sir" and "size doesn't matter and the female orgasm is a myth, sir".

It's still his own fault for creating such an environment with his incompetence and his fragile ego, of course. But he might honestly believe his own bullshit in this case.

Apparently this is closer to the truth than people know. Trump is so simple-minded that he has his morning briefs presented to him in video form with bullet points that contain simplified explanations. Also lots of AI chaff is put in front of him, like Portland on fire and reduced to a smoldering heap, people eating dogs and cats and angry kids assaulting ICE agents and being violently taken down. Anyone not recall the pictures of Kilmar Garcia’s hands with the obviously shittily Photoshopped MS13 letters on the knuckles? Tie bad eyesight to simpleminded, drug and age related mental decline and well… here we are.

This approach worked great for Biden, let's see how well it works for the Orange

[–] mikenurre@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

So great that you will release an accurate jobs report? Didn't think so. But hey, we're told AI will take all the jobs. So at least we got that going for us. /s

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh it's going gangbusters for Trump after all the money he's been able to steal from it. A lot of people don't see that, apparently.

The Emperor's New Clothes

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

His inner circle of sycophants and/or billionaire has been getting richer at the depends of everyone else in the country. He has no idea of the reality happening outside of what that circle tells him.

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

They can't see something that isn't there

[–] etherphon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago
