You wanna know what's wild? That date for first life keeps getting pushed back suggesting that life basically came into existence as soon as the conditions were right.
Calvin and Hobbes
Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.
Calvin and Hobbes is a daily American comic strip created by cartoonist Bill Watterson that was syndicated from November 18, 1985, to December 31, 1995. I am a believer in the possibility of panspermia. Much of the stuff we see on earth is the byproduct of past supernovas. Those old stars probably had planets and some of those planets might have hosted early forms of RNA or at a minimum, started to form more complex molecules.
I am not saying is not that earth was "seeded" intentionally or life as we know it developed on another world. It just makes more sense to me that the history of life is not contained strictly on this planet alone.
The universe seems much more complex to me than the history of a single planet.

Oh shit. Calvin and Hobbes is almost 40.
Reading these existential Calvin strips as a kid really made me think. I guess I'm old, too 😅 I wonder what my parents thought when I would read these.
"Acme" is a strange choice of word.
It does mean "highest point" "summit" or "peak of something" but in cartoons, it's more famous as the company that sells the shoddy, unsafe products to Wile E. Coyote.
It means the same thing as the name of that company, too. It's marketing.
