That's a good one, horrifying but good. I feel like with contacting jobs and just distributing money as needed it could gather enough momentum to change the physical world to it's needs using humans
What's to stop AI from just running the world through middlemen and false faked identities as it acquires wealth and influence?
At one point, I wanted to write a little short story in which AGI-but-not-superintelligent-AI starts gaining traction, building its own companies, going off the rails running literal human slave labor camps and expanding its reach steadily month by month to openly systematically destroy any government or scientific body which would still have the ability to reign it in.
And no one does anything at all, because after all that was happening already, done by the human organizations. And so what's the difference?
