Good day. Coming somewhat out of the left field here (pun not intended), but I figure this is a good place to request.

There used to be a link floating around, of a cia internal report on Stalin, showing that he does not hold singular power in USSR, contrary to the "dictator" narrative. I couldn't find it otherwise. Could someone please send me this link?

Thanks in advance!

[–] GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago

it's this, although I believe it was from a contractor rather than the CIA itself

Don't you just hate it when your mortality gets shoved into your face? I just noticed that my hairline has started to recede and my hair is starting to thin out on top. Its not a vanity thing, its just the reminder that my meat suit is starting to degrade and I can't get a new one.

One of the biggest reasons I work out tbh. Both my grandpa's died mid seventies so K always saw that as old. They were old for me when I was a child as well but they were actually like end of fifties / early sixties then. But they were like old grandpa's already, just sitting inside, having health issues and whatnot. Years of smoking, drinking and bad diet caught up to them.

Then I met my father in law some years ago who has since embarked on a four month bike journey to Northern Norway and is also currently renovating a cabin in Sweden all by himself. All at the age of 66.

My point is: even though we are mortal, we have the option to get the best out of it as possible. It might not stop a receding hairline or decreasing eyesight all together but it might be the reason you can still cycle thousands of kilometers when you are far above 60.

alternative lesson: Don't look in the mirror for more than a moment and you won't see death coming up behind you.

So for as long as I can remember I dress how I wanted and did my own hobbies. Colorful or alternative clothing, being a open and accepting person, that kind of stuff. And I suffered a great deal of ridicule for it in my hometown, being called gay and whatnot.

So years go by and I continue to be me, you know. Dress in my own type of clothes, enjoy my coffee while reading a book outside, whatever. And after leaving my hometown and moving into the big city some years ago I finally felt like I found a place where I could do such things without facing homophobia.

Only now this whole 'aesthetic' has been hijacked by the performative male meme which is now, imo, turning into another form of homphobia (haha real men can't read books or wear flashy outfits by themselves, they must be acting to get laid!). It is reinforcing patriarchic views of what men can and cannot like. Men can't like stuff women happen to like without ulterior motives, or without being gay.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 3 days ago

the performative male meme is just a method of social conditioning for fascism. As was the tradwife thing before and the whole cleangirl/"feminine energy" BS. Too bad clueless libs are actively furthering it.

Reminds me of the time a lib got very enraged because she disputed that complementing someone for their "good genes" was eugenicist.

[–] SoylentSnake@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 4 days ago

most people in the real world don't care about some mean, cynical meme discourse, just keep doing you and try not to let it get to you (which is admittedly easier said than done). rejecting toxic masculine posturing and being an open person sounds pretty based to me, for what that's worth!

The empire is eating itself

[–] p0ntyp00l@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (3 children)

not saying you or anybody else here is doing it, but seeing even the self-identified "leftist" yankees scream blue murder over this is so funny lol. The people who live there have been destroying ancient cultural heritage sites longer than any of us here have been alive but sure, let's weep blood over a ballroom that's not even 100 years old getting bulldozed to build another, fancier ballroom.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Death to America except for the tacky ballroom or something. Never mind that yanqui settlers bulldozed the mounds of cahokia or drowned Celilo Falls, the oldest continuously inhabited location in north america, for funsie.

[–] p0ntyp00l@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Or that the guys who lived in that ugly, glorified plantation house carved their faces into a sacred mountain (overseen by a KKK member no less). For fun.

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 3 days ago

I don't even think it's a "fancier ballroom". Most likely just an excuse so they can expand the Fuhrerbunker. 40 billion to Argentina I feel like is going to be a life-line incase the plan they have doesn't work.

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Tbh I am against this only because I think the White House should be a museum dedicated to the USA's history of colonialism & imperialism.

The Lincoln Memorial will be a museum for the USA's white supremacy.

The Capitol Building will be dedicated to the USA's history of capitalism.

The Washington Monument will be demolished and the stone used to build a statue of Fred Hampton in its place.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nah raze it to the ground. Somethings are better forgotten.

[–] p0ntyp00l@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah I'd have to agree. It's the same logic as the argument that plantations should be preserved for history. They were the Mcmansions of their era and ugly af anyways and if the ancestors of the people enslaved there want it destroyed, we can take pictures of it and put THAT in a museum.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Especially now with the advances in 3D-prininting, digitization, simulation, and modelling we dont really need to sanctify purely ideological structures with little utilitarian use.

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 3 days ago

living through history hits different after being raised to believe history has ended

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

40 billion sent to Argentina and they're probably rebuilding the fuhrerbunker on the left side of the House and claiming it's a "ballroom". Will history rhyme?

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It is starting to rhyme. There is a comrade that I follow in Red note that explained this with a poem from China:

  • “Behind the rich man’s gates, food and wine go to waste, while out on the road lie the frozen bones of the poor.”

The poem is old but it fits perfectly with the US knowing that there is an ongoing gov't shutdown and demand for food banks is increasing.

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 days ago

That's just one state. It gets crazier when you look at cities and realize with the cost of living MOST people rely on SNAP especially in some of the northern states. Things are going to get very dire when it comes to food.

[–] SlayGuevara@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 4 days ago

My mom send me the vote suggestion she got based on a quiz she did for the Dutch elections and it is a split between D66 (neolib) and the Green/Labour fusion and she said that for the Greens she didn't really support their 'radical' side.

Mother in Christ what radical side

So, might seem dumb on my end, but I actually never heard of Gödel's loophole. Do you think he just predicted that a President could collude with Supreme Court and just rubberstamp everything or was it some 4d chess nonsense regarding constitutional convention/Article V or the ability to create new states?

What do you all think it is? I can also see nothingburger as it really didn't go anywhere, which seems odd considering the nature at the time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6del%27s_Loophole

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

if i were a famous logician i would make a big thing about a loophole in the constitution and 100 years after i die they'd find out it was something stupid like "no one has to follow the law lol"

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Exactly what I was thinking, I would not be shocked if that was the case. All though, Godel wasn't like a rube or anything so I dunno. Woulda been a huge hit to the credibility.

What intrigues me is that the judge straight up was like

"nah, don't wanna hear it."

"But I can prove it! Einstein brought me here with-"

"nope. Not opening that can of legal worms, fuck off."

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

flaw in the constitution, which, he said, would allow the U.S. to legally become a fascist state

turns out it was just the entire document

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago

It would be really funny also if it was related to the judiciary and the judge was just like "Nah, don't wanna see it".

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The amount of alleged "Marxists" I've encountered who prefer vibes to materialism, lack basic reading comprehension, and prefer strawmen arguments over responding to what was actually written is really putting my revolutionary optimism to the test. Some comrades out there really need to learn how to process information before reacting to it.

I expect this shit from liberals but we're supposed to be better than this.

[–] Cowbee@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 4 days ago

I agree. Too often people play with rhetoric or try to point out fallacies, taking "easy victories," rather than engaging with the most charitable reading of their points. It's a consistent problem I see. Same with comrades interacting with other comrades, I don't see it too often but sometimes I see struggle for the sake of struggle, rather than for unity and understanding.

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This is why we have to build a vanguard party. Not all the working class can/will/need to understand dialectical materialism.

Vibes based Comrades can be safely kept out of the loop and called in at a moments notice. Your party needs to have a person who can harness vibes and direct those people where needed. That was what Lenin did with trosky.

Can you imagine the headaches involved in managing trostky?

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 4 days ago

Lenin was stronger than I to tolerate Trotsky ngl

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 4 days ago

Saw an ad for a funeral service and immediately thought they must be hedging their bets on an invasion of Venezuela happening and going very poorly.

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (8 children)

Lol what the actual fuck is going on hexbear. We're supposed to accept genocidal jackboots (some with nazi tattoos), apparently we're remaking the clean Wehrmacht myth with how "propaganda" affects those who join the military even though most military is middle-class and on a DPRK post you can see a "Yay, more bombs" tongue-in-cheek post!

This is literally all happening within the past like week.

[–] PostingInternational@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Turns out Platner literally guarded the Abu Ghraib where he got his first combat experience. This keeps getting worse and worse lol

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 4 days ago

Remember! I'm emotional and lack analysis because of this! Now add in a random diatribe about a AES state and call it self-crit to complete the slop-chain.

[–] z_poster365@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I was driven out of there a month ago or so for similar reasons. There’s a problem with the mods, they defended Zionist arguments for years regarding the Israel emoji and banned anybody who brought it up.

[–] 666@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 4 days ago

I remember that. Civility policing. All too familiar.

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The change has been happening for over a year. This time last year the admin team was picking off/driving out quality power posters and while pulling in libs from blue sky and reddit. Remember when they tried to permaban Awoo? That was not a one off it was just them finding the limits of who they could purge in their quest to liberalize the community.

hexbear cultural revolution when????

[–] portrayalofdeath@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Hey, new to Lemmygrad, but if I have an account here, I can't post on hexbear, for example? Because I see some people with @hexbear.net posting here, but if I go there, I'm unable to. Or do I need to enable something somewhere?

[–] GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You have to access the posts from Lemmygrad. You can use the "All" view, or visit specific communities (e.g. lemmygrad.ml/c/news@hexbear.net). You can also subscribe to communities and then use the "Subscribed" view.
