Their mother should sue for defamation. Explain why they accused said mother of conducting foreign relations without the permission of the government.

[–] florencia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 73 points 5 months ago (2 children)

This unironically could work lol. Let them start getting payouts

[–] N0t_5ure@lemmy.world 47 points 5 months ago

Falsely accusing someone of a crime is defamation per se, which means that they don't have to provide proof of reputational harm. This would be a fun lawsuit to bring.

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 25 points 5 months ago

There's definitely reputation harm to be done if you are suddenly associated with Nazis AND Putin

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 115 points 5 months ago (2 children)

This is so puerile I don’t even know what to say. Satire is well and truly dead.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 57 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It is the same childishly arrogant postering as Musk having Twitter reply with a poop emoji.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 26 points 5 months ago

Extra rich coming from a woman whose husband is old enough to be her dad

[–] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 27 points 5 months ago

Satire for this administration would be to depict them as competent and able to govern.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 87 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I regret to inform you that this is not a meme.

Your mom's a meme /s

I'm sure she's a lovely lady if her child made an account on lemmy instead of the typical corporate websites.

Maybe we can make Lemmy a place where mom jokes are always wholesome (like your mom)

[–] IntriguedIceberg@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Yo mama... would be proud of the kindness you're spreading

[–] cygnus@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 months ago

You know what else your mom spreads?

Jam on guests' toast in the morning, because she's a thoughtful and welcoming host.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Please let this become a thing we have here. This is awesome.

[–] dmention7@midwest.social 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Your mom is awesome!

Am I doing it right?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

Your mom is doing it right.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 17 points 5 months ago

I appreciate your kind regards, but she is not.

It's astounding major media keeps treating this administraiton as ANY sort of normal.

If I was running a newsroom, these people would be on fire every goddamned day.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's not astounding at all if you consider who these media belong to.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yeah. Still, the people who do the actual work . . .

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

... are continuously terrified of losing their jobs at a moments notice.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Yeah. It’s shameful fifty different ways.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 29 points 5 months ago

"And here you can see the serious professionality of the White House press office."

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 29 points 5 months ago

I do not want to live on this planet anymore.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 22 points 5 months ago

I'm convinced now: everyone is 12.

[–] Logh@lemmy.ml 17 points 5 months ago

Never thought that I’d see the day when being kind, diplomatic and articulate is the most punk thing one can do.

[–] deacon@lemmy.world 15 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Reporters should just start stooping to their level and giving it right back.

“My moms dead you ghoulish bitch, now do you want to answer the question?”

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 23 points 5 months ago

That's not stooping to their level. That's the kind of thing a crying middle schooler would say, where in their head they think it sounds like a clever retort, but it just comes off as pathetic.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.” ― Jean-Paul Sartre

Isn't it cute how the leaders of the US respond like 12 year olds?

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

12 year-olds from 1997.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 9 points 5 months ago

Plot twist, it was actually Mrs.Huffpost

[–] RedMari@reddthat.com 9 points 5 months ago

Must be true since they answered consistently.
