Yeah but it's a fucking kids book
Yeah but they hate books in general
"If those conservatives could read a chapter book, they'd be very upset."
Of course they're mad about kids' books. That's more book than they want to read, and about as much complexity as they can handle. Their brains would break about a book without pictures in it.
I mean it is a picture book their mad at with the lorax 😂. Shocked they don't have the one showing the dangers of hating those different than you on the list
Yep, that's the point I'm making. They're mad at a picture book because their thinking isn't any more advanced than a particularly selfish toddler.
I don't know about a kids' book that exemplifies that, but I can recommend a great kids' movie about overcoming fear of people different than you - Pooh's Heffalump Movie. It's got everything - kids willing to make friends while the adults fight, moms bonding over Moms Gonna Mom feats of Protect The Baby, Tigger being Tigger, it's great.
And yeah, if they're mad at picture books, I'm surprised there aren't more kid books about sharing or generally being a good friend on that list for "promoting communism".
Conservative bans are closet recommendation lists.
Also, why is 7 and 8 linked? I mean I see it's the only entries, but why not link up others?
Absolutely. Want a queer or leftist reading list? Look up what conservatives want removed from your local school and public libraries.
Ive never read "it can't happen here" but there rest of these rock (well, 1984 is okay). This feels like a lefty trying to make this stuff taboo to get kids to actually read. I don't think a conservative would actually read all these books
Edit: Also props to the person who made this for being one of the few people to actually understand fight club on a metatextual level.
I wouldn't be surprised if I saw leftist outrage over conservatives trying to make a big fuss about some big long list of communist theory and stop people from reading any of it, and then we all found out the actual people responsible were leftists, trying the Banned Book Effect as a last ditch effort to get people to Read Your Theory, Damnit!
