I think the ammo for the beam weapons is a bit stressful. I just got them and am wondering if using an infinite ammo cheat will ruin the experience or if it will make the game more enjoyable.

Maybe I will get ammo upgrades and it won’t matter.

What is your opinion on the matter? I don’t mind being stressed if it makes the game more fun overall.

It sounds stressful but it really isn't. Just destroy random crates/dark plant things with the dark/light beam and you'll have basically all the ammo you need.

Thanks! I figured it was a Nintendo game, so it would be pretty forgiving.

I’ll hold out on cheats unless I have an issue down the line.

Metroid's signature feature, basically any enemy/breakable gives you something once you gain more type that needs ammo stock.

That's true. It doesn't seem that I need to worry about ammo so much. I'll play the game without the cheats.

Play like you want I cheat in games because I can only play for 30 minutes or an hour a week

I also play to decompress

I feel like the ammo aspect is a big part of what makes the game challenging. Like others have said, you can always get more ammo by using the opposite beam (i.e. killing enemies with the light beam gives dark beam ammo and vice versa), and you can also use the charge beam for a free shot even with 0 ammo.

All of that put together can lead to some of the most exciting boss battles where you're out or almost out of ammo but still have a chance to get the final blow in before they do. Infinite ammo wouldn't necessarily ruin the game overall in my opinion, exploring would still be fun and exciting. But it would certainly rob you of those exciting moments.

Thanks, this is what I was worried about. Will there be exciting moments around ammo. If it was something that just added a grind to the game, then I would not mind using cheats.

This is what I was hoping to hear about the game. I will forego the cheats.

Thanks, I did not know that you could still charge shot while at 0 ammo. This makes a big difference for me. Part of the stress was worrying about having ammo to solve a puzzle.

This literally only matters to you. If you enable that cheat and beat the game, and it doesn't bother you, then go for it. I know it would eat away at me so that's why I wouldn't do it.

You will get ammo upgrades. Just explore when/as you can. That is how you get upgrades in metroidvania games. Explore, get new things, use new things to explore more, get more new things, rinse & repeat.

Thanks! I'll move forward without cheats.

Very personal. I personally find it less satisfying when I do use those. But I'll also call a spectre in Lies of P for most boss fights because I don't want to run this 50 times (I do try it solo a few times before I do that).

Honestly, try it for an hour or two and see if it makes it more or less fun.

I typically try to avoid cheats in games, but I don’t mind it when the designers made an unpopular choice that generally makes the games less enjoyable.

Based on another comment, I decided not to use cheats for this.

That doesn't sound too patient
