Who's bombing the Kurds for years?

[-] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 14 points 1 year ago

And facilitating Azerbaijan continuing a genocide by turning the entire country of Armenia into a glorified reservation

He's doing it right now, cutting water and electricity to millions, taking advantage with everyone's obsession with Gaza..

Baddies opposing other buddies just because of geopolitics? Color me surprised

[-] mihies@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

Funnily enough, EU and NATO don't have problems with that as well.

[-] letmesleep@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

They do. For geopolitical reasons there's that not much done about that, but the US did for example shoot down a Turkish drone recently. .

It's also important to distinguish here. The West considers the PKK to be a terrorist organization as well. It's the YPG where opinions with Turkey differ.

They do but they don't do anything? Like they care a lot just not doing anything about?
They shot that armed drone because it came near their base, not because they care who else it was going to shoot at.

They shot that armed drone because it came near their base, not because they care who else it was going to shoot at.

That's the official story they tell so Turkey can save face, yes.

[-] mihies@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

IOW US is protecting Kurds by shooting down a single Turkish drone?
Kurds, which are often abandoned by US (Iraq, Syria at least, in later case giving free hands to .... Turkey)?
I really don't think there is a positive internet towards Kurds there.

[-] letmesleep@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

As I said, they're not doing much. But it's fairly clear that the US would rather have Turkey leave the Kurds alone. It's just not ready to take more than symbolic measures.

[-] mihies@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Man, US left their allied Kurds to Turkey's slaughter recently.

[-] letmesleep@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

That was recently, but under a different administration. It's unlikely that Biden would have done that.

There was trust between Turkey and EU or for that matter EU and Turkey?

[-] CJOtheReal@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 year ago

Only the trust from those we don't trust and don't need to trust us... ๐Ÿคก

[-] Name@feddit.nu 4 points 1 year ago

Well the EU doesn't have trust in Turkey so what does it matter

Fuck him.

He's one of the most corrupt dictators on the planet. He's rigged elections, tortured citizens, and imprisoned more journalists than any other country.

Fuck him with a cactus.
