The whole idea of "campus police" is so alien to me. Are there any other countries where that is a thing?
Canada has it for sure.
State Police consists of CHP, game wardens with cannabis duty, and UC mall cops with military cosplay. Thanks for keeping us safe.
It seems that "UC" is meant to refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California
Yeah, I'd normally expect participants in a California-specific community to know this.
Never been to that side of the country, still got it. But does the use of "UC" mean all campuses? I assume so?
The UC system means all campuses
UC or state university refers to a single campus
The biggest request came from UC San Diego, which said it needed 5,000 new 5.56-millimeter caliber rifle rounds to replace ones used in trainings
Not sure how many officers they have or what the training regimen looks like, but 5,000 does not seem like that much to me. Most folks I know go through 120-240 rounds in one range trip and, by picking up deals, end up with at least 1,000 - 2,000 rounds at home. Most of the best deals on ammo are for boxes of 1,000 or more.
