Specifically the "laundering" kind, if I had to guess.

Think the why would be why now.

Hollywood has kind of struggled as by the time they hop on, the things is already no longer popular

So it's just an action war movie like the other 500 already released this year

I could've understood this in this early 2010s when MW2 and BlOps were all the rage but... Do people still play these fuckin games?

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's the same kind of people who play fifa. The hype of the new game is huge, the game dies down, nothing gets fixed, they sell as many micro transactions as possible and before the game fies completely a new game is areound the corner. It's the same game, but you can spend more money now.

In my time, I've played hundreds, probably thousands of hours of FIFA. Never the latest and greatest, never spent a penny on microtransactions; it's genuinely just a fantastic game for group drinks and solitary hangovers 😂 I can't believe people keep buying new FIFAs. They're shite every time. Why anybody would spend £80 on it I'll never know

My friend buys every fifa and maybe plays it for like 20 hours and waits for the new one. It's crazy how blatantly they sell the same game over and over. I watched him play one day and after just watching for 10 min i asked him if the announcers only have the same 4 phrases they yell out, like it's 1999. He said that's pretty common, and he would always make the same goals, again, luke in 1999 where the AI is confused when you shoot from a certain angle. They port over the same bugs every damn year.

Yes its one of the largest game series

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly I thought it had died off sometime in like 2016 or something, maybe with warzone being the only popular one left! Crazy.

They're making a movie of the game series that got it's start by shemelessly ripping off every WWII movie?

It's too bad Telly Savalas is dead. He'd have been great as the PTSD Hallucination Buddy.

It's like ai slop being trained on ai slop, only it's soulless Hollywood writers instead of soulless machines.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Isn't this a have where people famously only play the multiplayer?

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 2 points 2 weeks ago

Nah from what I remember all parts of the game were played. Its just the campaign is only a 1 time play through then after that you play multiplayer for the rest of the year with breaks of spec ops or zombies.

After this they should make an Among Us movie, Hollywood always seems to know what people want. /s
