This is a LOVELY Story because you KNOW the State of Louisiana is going to do EVERYTHING it can in its Power to CARE for the Baby and ENSURE it has the BEST Possible life it can!

[–] Blackout@fedia.io 52 points 1 week ago

Republicans after the baby is born: "Well our job is done."

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago

People say I'm autistic, but even I can sense that sarcasm.

Driver should be forever paying child support. It's only fair.

[–] merde@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

he is 54. Forever won't last long enough

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 22 points 1 week ago

Seize them social security payments.

[–] PriorityMotif@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

What are they going to do, take his license plate money?

[–] SirMaple__@lemmy.ca 36 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Shit. It sickens me that we have to share the roads with people who do things like this.

What happened to just flipping the person off or wanking your hand at them and going about your day?

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Probably shouldn't trade break checks when your passenger is pregnant either. Thats just a bad idea. But what the fuck happened to people where even if this was happening, why the fuck is shooting someone your response? I have been break checked before. You flip them off and leave like you said.

[–] copd@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

been driving 15 years in london and never been brake checked.

My trick is I'm patient and I don't tailgate anyone

[–] bryndos@fedia.io 6 points 1 week ago

Driving killing machines / operating heavy mahinery should be reserved for adults. An 'adult' being someone who is mature enough to not to instigate or escalate these types of situation. I think both drivers should be banned from driving until they can prove that they are competent to operate heavy machinery.

wanking your hand

Hey, whoa, buddy! Nobody wants to hear about you wanking with your hand!

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 week ago (2 children)

But, tell me again how guns are a good thing for regular people to just be carrying around with them.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I almost made a "fuck guns" community, but I do not want to devote the time needed to moderate it. Also, I think spending a lot of time reading posts like that would not be good for my mental health.

/c/Fuck_Guns

The community that has sexual fetishes for guns.

If ever there was a time for more Americans to be armed to the teeth, it’s now. This talk is nonsense.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Of course this was Louisiana.

I hate this state. I hate the people of this state. My entire life living here I have dreamed of nothing but being able to leave this shit hole.

That poor child would probably have been better off not being born if they are to live their life here. It will be nothing but pain and hardship for them. No one deserves that kind of life.

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What has kept you in the state out of curiosity, family, economics, other?

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Financial unable to afford to move. Moving states is fucking expensive. My only income right now is food stamps. Disabled auADHD in a rural area with no job opportunities or personal transportation limiting an already scarce job pool.

Without family support, I would be homeless, which I guess if it eventually comes to that (my family is conservative and I'm always wondering when they are just going to put me to the curb) I could at least attempt to just be homeless elsewhere, but honestly I would probably just bite the bullet if I had to be homeless again in today's world. It was hard enough 15 years ago when they kicked me out the first time for daring to ask them to support me while going to college.

Yes, the economics around moving have changed a ton in the last 40 years, and people are moving a lot less as a result than they did in prior generations.

Obviously everyone's situation is different so it may not be possible for you, but if you are able to work, focusing on looking for remote/wfh jobs that can go with you in a move can be the difference in being able to move for many since the days of "oh I'll just move and look for a job when I get there" is really only for people who have lots of support and probably connections where they're moving. "Remote" isn't just for software engineers, there are many kinds of customer support, administrative and other roles that don't require specialized training that you could consider. They may not be your dream job but if it gets you out of a lifelong sentence to live in the same spot it might be something to look at if you already haven't. It also can be hard to land any job so acknowledge that.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm aware, unfortunately I'm so rural that my Internet connection is satellite and not reliable nor fast enough for WFH jobs. I also don't have a PC or place to perform a WFH position.

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

The Internet would be a problem. Depending on your cellphone plan, if you have the ability to tether with unlimited data, that could be your home internet. I would not try to work like that if you don't have good 5g coverage and unlimited tethering.

For the computer, companies, if they're legit, would provide you a computer to do the work they need you to, assuming it's a regular w-2 job. Only contractor/1099 jobs are where you have to provide your own equipment/materials for the job. Obviously you'd have to figure out a way to land a job in the first place via the internet, your local library would have Internet access I'd hope.

Hope you can get something to happen for you.

Georgia had a similar case this year of a woman declared brain dead but kept alive until the baby could be delivered after like a month

[–] olympicyes@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

There really isn’t anything similar about the cases. This lady was shot and they delivered the baby right away to give it a chance. Also this post is equally fuck guns as fuck cars.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 week ago

damn. not even as the result of a crash, just straight up shot in the head from behind

this is the world republicans want to exist

[–] hexagon@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago

Think about all those interesting cultures that had to die off to make space for the one where people kill each other for road rage, where brake test exist, whatever the fuck is
