This might be a good thing, i mean it will suck for sure but this might be the incentive that even those not tech savvy need to start looking at alternatives (graphene os, linux phones) and free themselves from their digital prison.

This news is the last straw for me, I was already starting to largely de-Google and considering a Fairphone, but this is the final push I needed to fully de-Google and move to GrapheneOS. I don't like the idea of buying a Pixel (new or used), but if that's my only option it'll have to do. I was very pleased to read GrapheneOS are in active discussion with an Android phone OEM about improving the hardwear of their future phones to be compatible with GOS. This partnership likely won't bear fruit until 2027 or later, so I'll likely need a Pixel as my frst GOS phone.
