Star Wars nerds correctly identifying amerikkka as the fascist empire is good and somewhat unusual for them

other star wars subs: "n-no politics p-pwease"

r/andor: "I am joining Ansarallah"

I think the r/Andor mod team is also "n-no politics p-pwease."

[–] Bay_of_Piggies@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

They're the opposite. It's why the sub is like that.

I mean the first film(retroactively called a new hopw) is a very on the nose Viet cong/NVA(the rebel alliance) vs the US(the empire) allegory

but yeah in totality you're right

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's true, but an allegory being extremely on the nose is not necessarily enough to get amerikkkans to understand it

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago

The allegory could be someone holding the camera to their face and literally saying "This movie is about how fucking bad amerikka is!" and they would still talk about how much like China the depicted dystopia actually was.

The mods of /r/Andor are ideological anti-fascists/anti-imperialists. They encouraged comparisons to Palestine.

I think the problem is they do correctly identify it as such: and think it's badass
