There is compelling data that brain health, and specifically Alzheimer's, is a direct function of insulin resistance.. i.e. diabetes. https://hackertalks.com/post/15298109
So yes, eat complete bioavailable foods with good natural omega 3, and vitamin b.. yes... Whole foods, no processing, preferably a direct animal source (because of the vitamin b)
But also avoid sugar, carbohydrates, to avoid both diabetes and Alzheimer's
Update: Since OP is downvoting me anyway, I don't have to be restrained in my analysis out of politeness
- The article is from a propaganda organization with an agenda
- The actual study https://doi.org/10.1136/bjo-2024-326872
- Observational, No absolute risk, very small effect
- Food Frequency Questionaries
- SFA intake is not isolated from cofounding factors like carbohydrates and sugar.
I don't know why people are allergic to talking about the actual study, I suppose it's because most people don't read the studies, and for agenda based organizations it doesn't really matter what the study says, just that its a opportunity to repeat a talking point.
There is no downside to eating more omega-3 containing foods, so sure, why not! But this study doesn't move the needle much
- ALA which vegnews pushes, is not directly usable by all people, there is a non-trivial amount of the population which can't synthesize it into the directly usable DHA/EPA. This is why animal sources of directly usable DHA/EPA and vital when composing a nutritional plan for growing children.
