Hi all,

I read the original Eragon book a long time ago but I've been wondering if the series is something worth getting into. I remember the moving being just awful lol.

I enjoyed them, but it's been a while. I remember really enjoying the final book. They got better as the author got older, but even the first was decent.

I don't know what you mean about a movie. There was never a movie. Nobody ever made something so terribly executed it still haunts me. Niclelodeon would never ruin a beloved young adult novel so hard that no one has attempted to adapt it since. No sir.

What movie? I have a very good memory and there is no movie.

Jokes aside, I agree it's a good read.
I kind of grew up with this series so it holds a special place in my heart. Loved Inheritance, I remember being sad for days because of finishing it lol.

It depends on what you're looking for.

If you're happy with kind of shallow young adult fantasy vibes, go for it. The magic system / world-building / characters aren't especially fleshed out, but they get the job done. The plot again isn't especially noteworthy, but it was a pretty fun ride and easy to digest. Basically it's very accessible fantasy, but somewhat mediocre.

If you're really into classic high fantasy stuff, maybe give it a miss. It probably won't hit the spot for you.

Regardless of whether you read the books or not, just... forget about the movie.

It has one of my favorite endings in fantasy.

Unexpectedly mature from a young author and well suited for the target audience... Whether they like it or not.

The first was OK but didn't like the second and third. Was pretty underwhelmed, would not read again.

I really love this series.

The universe may feel a bit generic, but it’s like a “best of” fantasy classics—with strong worldbuilding, a solid magic system, and a great cast of characters. The pacing is good, too.

The author was quite young when he wrote the first book, which makes the young hero feel especially believable (refreshing). As the series goes on, the writing improve noticeably in my opinion.

It's an easy read with a good flow so you might as well give it a go.

Oh and the movie never existed, never!

I have only seen the movie, and I recall liking it quite a bit 😀

It has been quite a while though, so don't remember any story.
