I remember something like this happening with the reddit volunteer brigades at the very beginning of the conflict. people ended up posting their location on reddit in a "we're so proud to help these brave defenders of democracy, updoots to the left" type beat, and got absolutely demolished by Russian missiles a few hours later.
And survivors were reorganised and put into trenches with minimal training and cold war reservist equipment. Some time and artillery shells later they were fleeing through Poland and crying about the unfairness of war.

That was an incredibly cathartic moment, that those Reddit crackkkers got vaporized.
