I grew up playing in the woods. We always checked ourselves after and would wear long pants at the minimum. Usually walking through tall grass/weeds is how they get on you.

It's near impossible to detect ahead of time.

I grew up in a Lyme zone. Never got it till I was in my 30's, never saw a bite.

Checking for ticks is good practice, it's just hard to see the tiny fuckers that carry it.

Good luck finding doctors that take you seriously for having lymes, too.
