I suppose it is now clear that their government could not care less about the hostages.

Was this the entire Hamas plan? To make Israelis understand what it feels like to watch the IDF destroy their families?

It's pretty effective. You can bet more than a few hostages were caught up in the bombing campaigns.

That was Bin Laden's stated goal in his 9/11 manifesto. Obviously didn't work and was a deranged idea lol.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Oct 28 (Reuters) - The families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip have been racked with worry for their loved ones since the military stepped up ground assaults inside the Palestinian territory, a group lobbying for the families said on Saturday.

(tldr: 1 sentences skipped)

It said that the hostages being held by Hamas were being subjected to the same heavy bombardment as Palestinian residents and that their families were racked with "anxiety, frustration" that Israel's long-awaited ground invasion will put them in more danger.

Israel has been bombarding the Gaza Strip, which Palestinian militant group Hamas controls, since Hamas waged a deadly Oct. 7 assault that targeted army outposts and civilian communities in the area and killed 1,400 people, mostly civilians.

(tldr: 2 sentences skipped)

Israel's air strikes and artillery fire have demolished large swathes of Gaza and killed more than 7,000 people in the last three weeks, Palestinian health officials say, including some 3,000 children.

Israel said on Saturday that it stepped up ground operations inside Gaza overnight, during internet and power blackouts in the Strip, and that forces were still fighting in the area, without elaborating.

The hostages are believed to be hidden in the Gaza Strip, possibly in a warren of tunnels Hamas has built there.

The original article contains 354 words, the summary contains 218 words. Saved 38%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Oh no! Not anxiety!

Gazans are anxious they'll never see their families again... Because they'll be dead. Gazans are anxious that they won't have food or clean water. Gazans are anxious that the hospital they're using for refuge is going to get bombed by a thousand tons of high explosive.

Sorry, but my sympathy only goes so far.
