FIA investigating yet another incident after the race... Nothing worse than not knowing the results of a race when the race ends, if you're gonna give him a penno then just do it 😀

They want to give the drivers a chance to talk to the stewards themselves

yeah I don't get it. To me that should have been a max giving back the pos penalty. seems odd to not clearing out on the spot.

[–] BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Hamilton didn’t even show up…

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Slow burn race, thrilling end, and ENORMOUS props to McLaren for being the only team on the grid with the gumption and integrity to let their drivers scrap. Thank god for McLaren!

Nestle should sponsor Norris with how good he is at bottling

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's even funnier the twentieth time! Lap One Lando is really something else.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

what lap one, just turn one even....Bottle master.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

yeah it's painful to watch those start.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Really wonder what the issue he's referring to could be.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

yeah especially to be so verbose about

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

He is forced to manage fuel. Either they put too little fuel in (to counterbalance some other problem?) or the car is "eating" too much fuel.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Ah, underfueling without consulting him would do it. Sounds like that's what happened.

EDIT: "chassis issue" apparently?

why did not you Tbone him... haha good one Russell. I love the cool down room chat.

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

That lock up cost piastri. Rare mistake from him. He should taken the normal line like he did on the last lap on lap 69 to try a setup a overtake on the last lap. Taking the regular racing line on the last lap, he was closer to Lando throughout the lap

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 4 points 2 months ago

At the same time, that mistake showed Piastri's greatness in not crashing into Norris there. Could have easily gone bad for both of them.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I don't know, maybe he should have setup for the attempt on lap 70 instead of 69, but being closer around the lap doesn't mean much around here where turn one is the only real overtaking spot. I understand why he went for it.

Who the hell is working with loud equipment during the anthem? πŸ˜‚

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 months ago

yeah that was odd.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago

I assume the ambient sound microphone was too close to a mechanic

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Solid race by Russel to get the P3. Kudos by Mclaren to have different pit strategy for their driver and letting them fight the p1/p2. Ferrari with Leclerc there is something weird with all the frustration in the race. Alonso still got it with a P5.

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Jesus Christ Leclerc what on earth was that defense

So the one-stop pays off on a track where you struggle to overtake? Who could have guessed?

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 months ago (5 children)

It is not that simple. Usually tyre deg is so high that a single stop race is not possible. The temps were unusually low today and that meant deg was less and a one stop turned out to be the better strategy.

Ouch imagine getting gravel thrown against your hands at this speed

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

They just showed the replay of it. Yikes that looked painful.

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 5 points 2 months ago

Lol Lando's race engineer is more excited than Lando

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I feel for Leclerc. All that effort in the first half went to waste.

Either McLarens crash or it's a banger

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 2 months ago

McLarens crashing would be a banger since it would mean a podium return for Padre!

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Got pretty damn close on that penultimate lap!

Halfway there

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wow Ferrari with a fantastic 2.0s stop for Leclerc.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

not according to Leclerc

[–] Microw@piefed.zip 4 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Very cryptic messages from Leclerc.. what do we think, is he talking about some secret setting Ferrari has activated on the car that Leclerc doesn't like?
