Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.

i wish they'd deep scan it with an MRI, dump the structural data into the public domain, and then the 3d printing community could publish it as a kit of pieces you could print and assemble...
I wish that would happen for a great many pieces of antiquity, honestly.
