Putin, Trump, Netanyahu, Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos. Do you know what all of these men have in common?

They were all birthed by a woman. Yet you all still advocate for women rights. Curious.

I have been thinking, if I'm ever challenged why I hold such strong feminist views as a man, I need to make a joke that I'm in perhaps somewhat of a special situation, because my mom is actually a woman.

🙃

"I have strong feelings about this because my family has a long history of women on my mother's side."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

"My mom taught me better" is a shockingly effective argument in a lot of situations

Just stop giving birth to misogynistic people its so simple?? Like at this point its just a skill issue

[–] plyth@feddit.org 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is there no network of women that makes sure that all children grow up without misogynistic values?

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah some kind of fem ministry

At least get your tie down from the ceiling fan and tidy away the empty bottles.

If at this point text analyzers can't parse these self censored texts, then I would be very surprised.

Furthermore, if advertisers don't want to be associated with a topic, beating around the bush by using alternative words still associates them with that topic, it changes nothing.

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I would bet money that a python-tutorial-level OCR could parse that

[–] InFerNo@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well, this one in particular definitely, but others like d**th, or unalive, or grape, or sewer slide, or any where the word is censored by scribbling over it or whatever. They know. The topic is still the same. Advertisers are associated with "grape" just as much, context alone makes it abundantly clear. This kind of censorship makes no sense.

Except one case, it drives engagement. People like me will comment about it, it will sprout discussion, not about the topic but the censorship itself. It's the only way I can make anything of it.

Some of the biggest opponents to women's rights have been... women. It's the whole "I managed with this so you should too" (instead of making things better for everyone) bullshit. We see the same with immigration etc as well.

[–] KindnessIsPunk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

This narrative is endlessly weaponized, deployed in culture wars, racial divisions, and sexism to block progress. People cling to it, mistaking struggle for virtue and comfort for weakness. But life brings enough challenges naturally. We don't need to invent extra hardship to prove our worth.

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Wouldn't this be an argument against womens rights?

Sounds like some Bene Gesserit training is in order.

Why are equal rights still a discussion ever?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I was gonna comment, that's the one responsibility the right assigns to women. Nobody's questioning their place in childbirthing, they want that to be their only concern, and not even a right but an obligation.

Well, well, well, another reply-gem in the witches treasure chest.

According to some of replies we women are responsible for the Bezoses, the Zuckerbergs, and the Musks of this world, because we’ve given birth to them.

There’s a special term for this: victim blaming

Guys, we’re used to this, that’s nothing new you came up with, no brilliant thought, no evil esprit just the good old “she asked for it” which we heard so often.

Yep! They're not here to change minds they're here to unleash their hate about women on us.

[–] saimen@feddit.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

I guess they never witnessed a birth.

[–] SweetCitrusBuzz@beehaw.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Hmm, women birthed a lot of people sure, but there are also some men and nonbinary people that birthed others too.
