Then they need to come up with a different model.

Trump swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. That means that, among many other things, he swore to uphold the Constitutional mandate for equal protection under the law. And that means that AI companies are just as much subject to copyright law as anyone else.

If they can't meet their responsibility to obey the law, then that's their problem.

(Look at me - pretending that this administration, or most of the rest of the government, charged as they are with checking and balancing the executive branch, has even the faintest concern for the law...)

Yeah you can't pick or choose what gets enforced. If AI can use it then everything is public domain and copyright is gone.

I would have a much better opinion ai if it resulted in that.

Trump swore an oath to uphold the Constitution

Yes, but Trump also lies constantly. I doubt that oath means any more to him than anything else he's ever said.

Well of course it doesn't mean anything to him.

But violating a sworn oath is perjury, and perjury is an impeachable offense.

is an impeachable offense.

Add it to the pile.

Hahahahahaha like he cares about the constitution.

Old habits die hard, I guess

Copyright is not an obstacle because training is transformative use.

These companies are subject to the law, and that's why they're getting sued over pirating all their training material.

Awesome! Now I can finally start my Trump Properties rental services! Anyone want to rent Trump's properties just pay me! It's not feasible for me to actually pay him to use any of his properties, that's just unrealistic. I'm so glad this administration doesn't want to stifle business creation!

[–] dotslashme@infosec.pub 11 points 2 weeks ago

It's not doable for me to pay for all copyrighted input. Thanks cheese dick for the piracy endorsement.

Thank god. I can make my own ai company and use it to make extremely similar copies of disney and pokemon movies and assets now. Surely everyone will be fine with that.

Remember that OpenAI is whining about DeepSeek using distillation to take all of their hard work and just using it! That's unfair!

The Idiot does not understand the subject and should be removed in any case.
