Yeah, I don't see how they come back from this. This is just a complete collapse of their institutional integrity. Most US schools rely heavily on international student enrollment, and the current admin has already tanked confidence in that. Now Columbia is giving domestic students every reason to go somewhere else, since attending a protest can now result not just in expulsion, but of revocation of already-issued degrees.
How long until Columbia rescinds a decades-old degree from someone because the Trump admin pressures them?
Every Columbia degree just became a double-major in Compliance.
The problem with having a fascist government is everyone and everything trying to capitulate to the emperor with no clothes, even when we know wearing clothes is the right thing to do.
