Primebeard
Damn that lore drop about galley la fighting in with the alliance of joyboy possibly?? Seems wild. But also get back to shanks damn it why was he there what did he see that day.
Also goddamn they actually blinded poor kid.
Whitebeard told teach that he isn't the one that roger is waiting. Hmm what did he know.
Thanks for posting the thread! TCB posted the chapter literally an hour after I checked >.>
This is such a good chapter, the crumbs of world building, multiple backstories covered and topped off with a huge reveal! Loki is 100% joining the crew I'm calling it now.
Xebec being revealed as the Blackbeard's father is interesting, I wonder if his pirate ideology is different to Blackbeard's? Luffy is parallel to Roger because they seem to have the conception of freedom, whereas Blackbeard is very focused on gaining power and copying Xebec with the way his crew is structured and his tactics which makes me think he's aping it for his own goals instead of whatever Xebec was about.
I wonder if his pirate ideology is different to Blackbeard's?
All things point to xebec being a wild card and having very low control over his crew. Blackbeard seems like he moves on two waves, one is he wouldn't do drastic shit out of nowhere like murdering some admiral but he will wait it out. Two, he just often goes fuck it we ball. He does play it safe to some extent and often over expects the grasp over situations.
As for aping xebec, I don't think blackbeard's crew is similar to very unhinged powerhouse that was rocks. But also xebec's goals are not clear neither do we know how much blackbeard knows about the real void history.
He can't join the crew purely because of the logistics of having to draw him in group photos. I think we are heading toward hajrudin and Loki reconciling and then fighting as brothers. My take is that Loki will become the next king of elbaph for the final war since elbaph needs to organize and defend itself. It would be a dramatic resolution plot wise.
Rocks reveal was the best part of this chapter. Just when I thought Blackbeard was losing his intrigue we get this baller reveal.
I doubt rocks actually raised Teach in any meaningful capacity but rather that Teach found out about him and started idolizing him and inheriting his will (similar to Loki). Considering whitebeard seems to be a core rocks companion, I doubt he knew about blackbeards parentage or if he did find out he didn't care as no son of his should bear the sins of their parents.
I think rat haired shanks snitched on Blackbeard to the Gorosei tbh (but thats my agenda lol). Guessing because Saturn was aware of Blackbeard's lineage when Devon and Van Augur met him in egghead.
Really, I think the Gorosei figured out Blackbeard beforehand and tried to recruit him like they tried to do with Ace when he was offered a warlord position so they could make seraphim clones out of him and use his talent for their own ends.
(A seraphim ace sounds horrifying NGL. Imagine luffy meeting that).
Also BB and Rocks dont share any family names besides the D clan like we see with the Monkey D. family. Things might be even more interesting.
He'll fit, trust the plan...
I still think the snitch was Shamrock and Shanks is a rat in a non-WG aligned way. Also I feel like the Gorosei wouldn't care about Blackbeard's lineage because they assumed they could keep him under their thumb until he went rogue, but Blackbeard's ambition is more than they expected.
You lathed Seraphim Ace, it's been foretold
Rocks being Blackbeard's father was pretty well foreshadowed: His ship is literally called the Saber of Xebec and only a handful of people in the world know about or care about Rocks, it was basically a given.
It makes his betrayal of Whitebeard even more brutal. We also don't know the full extent of Rocks' relationship with his son and it looks like Blackbeard was possibly just an orphan.
We also see Blackbeard following in the footsteps of rocks: recruiting powerful and dangerous pirates who swear allegiance to him not out of love (like the strawhats) but out of mutual interests and a desire to see Blackbeard's era out.
It makes his betrayal of Whitebeard even more brutal
Oh yeah 100%. Whitebeard knowingly or not didn't bear any ill will to him until that murder. He did let him be in his crew just ace. His idea of this one big family came crumbling apart and he died in the worst way. Yeah its just sad.
I agree it was foreshadowed but wasn’t sure if Oda was going to pull a twist there.
Think you’re right on the orphan part and that’s likely why blackbeard didn’t take his dads last name
It is funny to see the chud one piece communities (mostly just piratefolk on reddit) start ranting about "nepotism piece" even though the spiritual/fatalistic aspects of one piece were always there from the start from chapter 1 where luffy steals a devil fruit from a pirate crew and chapter 2 where he survives being whirlpooled.
They're already jumping to wild conclusions that the Rocks remnants knew about blackbeard being Xebec's son even though that was never actually explained. We just got an Oda narration of "father of Emperor Blackbeard" which none of the characters can see, Oda is choosing to reveal this now because with Xebec's design it would be painfully obvious.
Anyway Xebec dropped an admiral at the reverie he did nothing wrong.
I don't get the whole nepo shit with regards to one piece. I feel like ace was made to be roger's son as opposed to luffy to make a point about lineage matters least in terms movements but people's will does. Only people in the world of one piece who seriously take it and talk in eugenicist terms are the slave owners in it.
If anyone knew about xebec's kid beyond even whitebeard I don't think those people will be silent or not target teach. I mean ace was as prominent and was tried for execution. Rocks remnants knowing that info doesn't seem that yielding. Cause at the end of the day everyone eyed the treasure at raftel and we don't know how much rocks knew about that.
chud one piece communities
Surprised there’s still these. I remember the drama around Ivankov and then all the coping with Yamato lol, I’m surprised they’re still around.
Anyway Xebec dropped an admiral at the reverie officer-down he did nothing wrong.
We’ll see how he’s portrayed going forward but I like him based on that alone lmao
all the coping with Yamato
Oh yeah, regular transphobia and terrible comments about that. People's problems with Yamato and people's transphobia both mix together and there is very little moderation.
They're still going on about the "Kurozumi will burn" line which is because of the tcb fan translation deciding to use the plural instead of the singular which was cleared up in the official release but they still talk about it because one piece is geared towards teenage boys who need furigana to read the characters.
We’ll see how he’s portrayed going forward but I like him based on that alone lmao
He did knife Loki earlier on, but Loki still admires Xebec so we'll see how it plays out. It possibly is part of Loki's harald moment where he met someone who could overpower him effortlessly and reshaped his outlook on the world.
It really raises more questions about Blackbeard's origins: how did he learn about Rocks? what lead him to join Whitebeard?
It was implied that he begged to join as kid or something. Whitebeard took him I guess. I don't know whether teach himself is privy to that. But most what happens to him seems like a weird twist of fate. I don't whether he wants to emulate rocks.
It's all so intriguing and probably one of those Oda reveals that recontextualize the entire series and you can never read it the same again (what happened to me after the kuma flashback).
The kuma one was great. But also yamato reading the oden journal reframing towards luffy was great too.
It's so impressive how many times Oda has done that across all of One Piece, like I've literally re-read huge chunks of the series because of massive lore drops
No break, usually TCB has those notices at the end of the chapter.
good god yes
Nice updated the post! Couldn’t remember if the posted no break or if no news is good news
