Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Man, I'm used to watching US police videos and am so desensitized to police brutality that I'm not even shocked by this. Not saying these cops don't deserve to be punished (especially the kicker) they absolutely do. I guess it's just the state of things. The state of my brain.

Still no excuse for the officer to kick the guy in the head and try to get him again.

Worst of all is he's trying to spin it as an attempt to subdue him, despite the fact he's already on the floor, been tasered, and is being restrained by another officer.

Circumstances will almost certainly justify him getting angry and lashing out. He's just been punched multiple times, seen two female officers get laid out in front of him, it's understandable that he saw red and acted excessively but he's decided to go for a lie that he acted in a rational and considered manner.

Looks to me like they go in unneccesarily heavy handed to begin with too.

Not condoning anything the guy in blue does, but he's facing a ticket machine and is grabbed by 3 cops and has his neck shoved down.

That police officer kicking the face of the guy on the ground makes me more mad than the guys fighting back against the police.

You have to invite balls pleading not guilty when there is video evidence

I see you are not a lawyer. Neither am I. But I have learned that in many countries, a guilty verdict could be tossed out by the judge if the pigs' actions were bad enough. You can also get jury nullification, if you're lucky.

And sometimes it turns out the officers actually fucked shit up before or after the video, which might only be uncovered before or during trial. Depends on the details.

All of those possibilities go to zero if you plead out.
