What is Cyberpunk?

Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). This looks like it might have more cyberpunk themes than the Schwarzenegger version while still retaining some of the light-hearted aspect of it. With Edgar Wright directing, I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Looks like it's a lot more true to the novella than the Schwarzenegger movie was. The novella is awesome btw, some of Stephen King's best writing. (just don' t read the intro by King bc it contains a major spoiler.)

So we are getting a white man problems story (a few of the Bachman books I’ve read are exactly that) that shift hard into environmental classism (pollution aimed at lower classes) with a quarter of the story remaining?

The movie with Arnold was nothing like the book. I wanna see people who are discriminated on, so badly their money isn’t acceptable as currency.

I miss me some Arnie puns

This looks way cooler than the Arnie one. And I love that one.

I don't think whoever made the trailer gets Edgar Wright. It's all over the shop tonally. Folks who see this are gonna be so confused.
