F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.

IzzyOnDroid is an F-Droid style repository for Android apps, provided by IzzyOnDroid. Applications in this repository are official binaries built by the original application developers, taken from their resp. repositories (mostly Github).

The '17 Tools We Use Daily for Free' list was published in week 26, squarely in the middle of 2025. Calling it a 'best of' at that point in the year is exactly the kind of premature award that makes these roundups meaningless. F-Droid deserves better than lazy link aggregation.

F-Droid remains the only app store where reproducible builds let you verify the APK actually matches the source. That kind of auditability is not a feature, it is the entire point, and Google Play has never come close to offering it. For anyone who actually cares about what runs on their device, the choice is obvious.
