The Gnome-shell extension is supposed to show up as a button in the top right menu. How did you install it? Should be called "gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect".

Hmm, that doesn't show a lot of details but it seems correct. Gnome should have an Extension manager. It should show up if you type some first letters of the word "Extensions" into the app overview. Maybe look if shows up there and got activated.
But thanks, I found GS conncect in the Extension manager... Why the hell is it even there? Anyhow, it works. But the fact I cant uninstall KDE Connect now drives me crazy... Time for fresh system install I guess... Again
Just in case you haven't started reinstalling yet, dnf has a transaction history. I can't look a link up right now, but the command goes something like "dnf history undo ", where the number is the transaction id of the transaction that installed KDE connect. You can find the transaction id in "dnf history"
I've already reinstalled and set up everything :)
I did check the history btw, it was not there at all. And there were only 16 lines as well so it's not like I've overlooked it.
Okay, that's weird. It shouldn't try to remove sudo. That's just silly. But I haven't used Fedora, I have no idea what's going on here.
I cant even uninstall KDE-connect now. Even via terminal it doesn't work.
By the way. AFter fresh install I've installed GSConnect directly from extensions and it immediatelly shows up in the menu by default. The GSConnect from Discover store shows as not installed. Also nowhere in the Discover store it says it's an extensions.
They really need to make this more clear tbh, it's very confusing for people who never used it.
Maybe Discover isn't the best choice. I believe that's made for the KDE desktop and Gnome should come with "Gnome Software" per default?! I'm not entirely sure what kind of concept Fedora has. I usually use the command line or some of the older package managers with more options and settings, so I can't really tell what's best here. These modern and shiny ones also regularly confuse me and I install Flatpaks by accident or whatever. Maybe try something else, maybe the Fedora community has some recommendations for a better one.
Yes, it's Gnome Software. Discover = Gnome Software... the default app finder that comes with the OS once you install it. It's not like I've installed a different app searcher for some reason.
Start kdeconnect-app from a console and share what the actual error message is.

I'm not exactly sure what might be causing your problem, but I'm assuming you've tried purging & redownloading KDE Connect?
Another one would be trying to kill whatever process it thinks it running KDE Connect. You could either find it the normal way, or this link might help if you can't easily find the process you need to kill.

Where are you installing KDE Connect? You only need it on your Android phone. On your computer, you only need the GSConnect extension.
So got GSConnect to work... I had to also enable it in Extension manager for some reason. I had no idea it's an extension since I've just i stalled it as RPM package from the discover store.
Anyhow, it's just confusing. I was installing KDE Connect on both my PC and laptop. I never even heard of GSConnect until I started troubleshooting and I thought it's just some GNOME fork of KDE-Connect, not actually a mandatory replacement for KDE-Connect on GNOME.
It may make sense in the name but the name makes it even more confusing. Since it works on Android/Windows,... Why would I not assume it will work on Linux GNOME?
Oh yeah I'm with you there. I think the project kinda grew beyond its initial goals, and now it's hard to rename. Made more complex by GSConnect being by an independent developer from the KDE Connect team, I think. But the naming is confusing for sure.
Last time I read about it, it said don't install KDE-connect on the GNOME system , just use GS connect, or it breaks stuff
