Few years back my phone exploded with calls. Found out my number has two digits flipped with a new store for a major retailer that had just opened up.

My voice mail reads something along the lines of ‘This is a private number not associated with any business/company’ now. The amount of people that still leave messages asking about hours or their order etc is mind boggling. One of my most recent was odd. Someone waited through my ~30 second message and just said their name and hung up. So like ‘John Doe’…click.

Other funny thing was when caller ID showed their corporate headquarters calling me…like they can’t even dial their own stores correctly? That was a mildly fun conversation.

Just do like me and never activate it.

I like to say it a few times, so they'll lose their patience and hang up well before the beep.

Do people not realize that companies probably can't text you? I get text notifications from my dentist, doctor, auto shop, etc. But if they need to contact me, they are calling.

The companies should invest in some of those newfangled messaging capable phones then.
