Honestly it's refreshing to see the mask of "non-partisan" judiciary finally fall away in some ways. The acceptance even among staunch libs that judges are absolutely partisan has been making it easier to have frank conversations with them. But idk, if you're not careful they can end up in "okay so we just have to make sure dems always win" just like in the other branches of govt which is not the point
Slop.

Judges always have been partisan, but they often got away with it by finding causes/reasons based in seemingly neutral language. But in the last 18 years or so, the right wing judges have been pushing the boundaries of trying to be kayfabe non-partisan.
In the last decade, they aren’t even trying to hide it.
exactly. So libs getting over that denial makes agitating among them easier
The problem is that it further cements Team Blue mindset. In other words - even in a very low stakes local race I think the dems are even less likely to vote for anybody left of Bernie. Libs will think if not say out loud - "He's not a republican. But he's not really one of us either. How can we know if he's really on our team?"
I haven't been getting that from a lot of libs IRL but I defs see the danger
I spend way too much time at Bluesky. And the people there that are clearly libs have an online mentality so they aren't run-of-the-mill libs. But I think in this Trumpian era - to badly mix metaphors - Team Blue mindset is bred in bone.
This is a big reason they're sprinting to the right. If a slightly less right wing thing beats out trump, it's automatically absorbed into the liberal zeitgeist and paraded around like a win.
Basically rebranded orphan crushing machine
I think politics as a team sport is spot on. When your favorite sportsball team wins you don't actually win. Nothing materially changes for you. You are not part of the team and the team does not care about you or need you. You're unrelated entities. The people on the team get some benefits from winning but the only benefit the spectator gets is the satisfaction that their team won.
It's kinda funny how libs think this is how it should be. Voting is useless as an activity if your team winning doesn't actually make a difference, just like rooting for your favorite team.
