If they’re still playing OW2 then it’s pretty obvious that nothing Blizzard does will make them stop. The fact that they’re complaining about the price’s amount rather than the price itself is proof that Blizz already has them on the hook.
I'm still playing, but only for the love of the game. I've long since lost hope of unlocking skins and stuff since OW2 replaced OW. The monetization is horrible, but if you're fine without the cosmetics, the game is mostly the same.
Damn all 27 people still playing must be peeved
If one day I start caring enough about a videogame cosmetic to the point of whining publicly to make it more affordable, someone find me and murder me please
Obviously it doesn't justify such a predatory way of trying to squeeze money from your users, but if someone has the compulsion to spend $40 on a cosmetic item in a video game then I think they might have issues with addiction.
Which is why they groom you with loot boxes first. The younger they start getting you used to paying for stuff like this the better, hence surprise eggs with like 25 cents worth of 3d printed shit in them targeted at 4 year Olds.
I see your point, but with kinder eggs you're paying for the chocolate (and the toy has been a thing for longer than 3D printers!)
Not kinder at least those are edible, I mean those plastic ones like Ryan from Ryan's world sells where they're literally just toys in them.
Don't know what that is, I assume one of those lucky-dip random toys you get in a little capsule? The main difference with that is you're physically getting a toy (no matter how crappy) which cost resource to make, whereas "buying" a cosmetic item in a live service video game is paying a company to change a variable (something that costs them essentially nothing) which provides almost nothing tangible to the user.
This is a little sensationalized, $40 is a lot, and it's more than past season pass ultimate bundles, but it's not just one skin for $40 like a lot of people want you to believe.
Is it shitty that the only way to get the skin is through the bundle? Undoubtedly, but it's not any worse than the industry standard.
it’s not any worse than the industry standard.
Why did you phrase that vicious condemnation like an excuse?
You're taking it like an excuse; I despise what the gaming industry has turned to, it's just the reality of things.
If they still play this piece of shit there is hardly much they can complaint about.
You, yes, you are the reason this exists in the first place.
How far has Blizzard fallen.
They used to make polished, interesting games.
Now they make... idk... shareholder money?
I don't know is the term "payware" is new, but it is the best description of Blizzard's shitty sales practices. I remember when I played shareware, and you got to play the first few levels of a game, and if you liked it, you paid a single price to unlock the entirety of the rest of the game.
Anyone still playing Overwatch is suffering from severe Stockholm syndrome
What if you don't care about cosmetics and just enjoy the game?
You good. People complaining about business practices of a company who has become known for those exact business practices are wild. II personally just stopped buying from them because they've shown they no longer want me as a customer. I do feel like people like those in the article might do better to just stop buying from them. There are so many fucking great devs and games out there from indie to AAA, why would I continue to support a company who I feel is being unfair to their customer base.
Not that I'd be remotely interested in the skin (nor do I play OW2), but really Blizzard? You'd think that with all of the PR issues they've been facing lately with both games, that they wouldn't pull something like this so quickly.
Lets take a gander at how much a Strange Gunslinger costs...
