So, the animation doesn't play in Jerboa, unless you open the image in a dedicated popup, and now I'm not sure which version is better. The non-animated one kinda feels more like C&H to me.

I think Jerboa plays gifs when you open them full screen (if that's the right term), not if you have the post with the comments below.
Yeah, that's what I was getting at.
It's a bit hit or miss on the animation (gif) playing. Works on a couple of my iOS mobile apps, but not on another and definitely not on laptop browser... I'm with you on the non animated, I personally like it better.
There is an option in the Jerboa settings to autoplay gifs. I think it is disabled by default.
Solution: blink one eye at a time.

About this community and how I post the comics… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. Of course these days you can read your favorite comics online instead of a newspaper, but I love the nostalgia of reading the daily comics. Anyway, one of my favorite current comics is Cyanide and Happiness and I will be posting the daily release from their website (https://explosm.net) and a an extra or two randoms.
Cyanide & Happiness (C&H) is a webcomic created by Rob DenBleyker, Kris Wilson, Dave McElfatrick and Matt Melvin. The comic has been running since 2005 and is published on the website explosm.net along with animated shorts in the same style.
