With every update, less information fits on the screen. The toggles got even bigger again this time. I just want to have 8 toggles in my pull down menu again :/

I passionately hate Google's design teams

[–] VintageGenious@sh.itjust.works 8 points 11 months ago

This looks cheap too. I hate huge margin zoomed in UIs

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 11 months ago

Just one more settings redesign man. I promise, just one more. Just one more design, I swear.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

You need a bigger screen! (/s of course)

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

It's just that UI designers are getting older.

Physics based animations? Fuck off. Waste of time, effort and CPU. I want my phone to last longer and work better, not look slicker.

[–] d00ery@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I turn off all the animations using dev menu so my phone feels faster

[–] Strayce@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 11 months ago

Same. But I have noticed lately in more recent Android versions it doesn't always apply to everything. It's also a waste of dev time that could be put into literally anything else.

Seems like Android is following Windows 11s path...

Hey now, XP was good! Vista sucked, and it was the one that pushed hard on animations.

[–] jnod4@lemmy.ca 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Fuck Google my new phone is going to be any third option available

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Tin cans and waxed string it is!

[–] UnityDevice@lemmy.zip 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

These are such minor changes. The first two videos merely change the animation curve - that's the animation equivalent of changing the colour of a button.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Exactly, these were not at all "Physics-based" animation, from the looks of them. I don't think the author knows what that means...

Google till this day has a lot of their apps display stuff and buttons inconsistently.

I am sure the new UI update will bring those back across different screens.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I remember when they introduced material design and people kept pointing out where Google didn't respect their own guidelines

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I guess we were all getting used to them, eh. Including them.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Sure but them releasing new apps without respecting them? That was pretty ironic.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

It was 🤭

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 11 months ago

Oh, I remember being hopeful.

[–] Luffy879@lemmy.ml 7 points 11 months ago

I buy an Android phone because the IOS Ui is fucking trash and takes years to display what I want it to display, not because I want it ro be as shitty as Android

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I dislike that.
I want my dark interface back >:(

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Does this remove dark mode? I don't think so, right?

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

Assuming the style is preserved, it would be likely look like Windows11.

And I don't like that on my phone.

[–] SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The dark mode quick settings background will be the same as light mode, just with a slightly darker gray. It's somewhere on the android authority website if you really want to see it

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You mean in some other article than this one in this post?

[–] SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah...

Android authority has like 8000 different articles about the UI refresh or whatever. It was very annoying trying to see more than just one thing

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Huh. The Google News Telegram channel is sleeping on this news then. First I've heard about it.

I'm excited about change though. Life is change.

[–] flop_leash_973@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Very oneUI of them.
