On Anime

While Anime is a beloved animation style with a rich history and extensive following, our focus here leans towards other forms of animation. This is due to the immense popularity of Anime in online spaces, which is amply covered by other dedicated communities.

This doesn't mean that Anime related conversation is not allowed here, only that it's not our focus. For a dedicated Anime instance, check out ani.social.

On Technical Discussion

While our primary goal is to discuss animated media, conversations about animation techniques and the process of creating animation are also welcome. Whether you're a budding animator seeking to understand more about the industry, or a seasoned professional sharing your experiences, you're welcome here.

So Seth Rogen is gonna be a pig who does his laugh all the time right?

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 12 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

So we don't even cast actual voice actors anymore?

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 1 points 20 minutes ago

Haven’t for a long time.

For some reason, I get the feeling that this is going to be mediocre.

IMO an Animal Farm adaptation needs to be different and based on the casting this seems more like a typical animated production.

I hope I am wrong.

Tbh they should be doing Animal Pound, the recent updated retelling of Animal Farm in comic form. Was actually really good.

[–] jbone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I am open to fully novel interpretation that stray away from the original. Just make it feel different and unique.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 hours ago

Stray hehe. It's good for sure, I hate remakes and recommend the comic!

[–] The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 23 points 21 hours ago

your instincts are probably on because it seems they're casting stars not voice actors

Is just an overhyped kid's book, lol. Is exactly what it needs to be. I'm sure Seth is gonna be a bad ass Napoleon.

It's not a kids book, what are you on about?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 1 points 13 hours ago

Getting banned by both American conservatives and the Soviets means you're doing something right, but it was never supposed to be that deep. The only thing that surprises kids when they develop some critical thought is the realization that the pigs acting like humans doesn't justify the existence of humans, it just means you need to make twice as much bacon.

It’s a classic, but not exactly what the world needs right now. The Orwell adaptation he should have done is 1984.

Yeah, not sure we need to know about the dangers of communism while capitalism is tearing apart society, but we all know who finances these productions.

[–] tflyghtz@lemm.ee 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Animal Farm is pro communist. Did you read it? It warns of the offpath idea of Stalinism.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

This... this doesn't counter my comment. An offpath of Stalinism is still within the scope of "dangers of communism".

My main point was that we don't need that movie right now anyway. We need a Captain Planet reboot or a new FernGully or a Lorax that isn't shilling SUVs.

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 15 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Hell yeah. Love to look to the anticommunist snitch for guidance during a time when increasingly unhinged fascists are coalescing worldwide and dragging us all into climate apocalypse and WW3

I wonder if the colonial cop could ever bring himself to hate Trump, were he alive today. Never quite managed it with Hitler. Had a lot of smoke for the guy who beat Hitler though. I'm sure those are unrelated. :thonk:

[–] anarchost@lemm.ee 2 points 9 hours ago

Yeah, I'm glad us leftists can agree that criticizing the people who beat Hitler - like Churchill and FDR, great men of history - is it self a damnable offense.

[–] bigbrowncommie69@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago

Idk I think leave this guy in the past. He's a relic of the Cold War. We don't need that propaganda anymore. There's so many other, better dystopian fiction books out there that haven't received their "definitive" adaptations, plus other more interesting original concepts people can do. Besides, maybe what people really need right now is people believing a better world is possible rather than accepting a crap one.

[–] KiwiTB@lemmy.world 12 points 19 hours ago

This sounds like a disaster.
