Super interesting. I think there was a lot of interest from young 20-somethings that really pushed this movie like crazy. Makes sense considering they were probably the perfect age for the original.

Also probably helps that there aren't a lot of well marketed "kids movies" this summer break for parents to take them to.

Is that Disney is good at making their films seem like “must see” events, that they’re perceived as a cultural staple.

Disney has really struggled with this the last few years though.

I think the era of stars at that level is over.

Oh man, please be good. I'm feeling the beginnings of some hype.

Edit: Okay so I actually read the article. Doesn't seem like Peter Jackson is actually going to be directing (at least not yet). And the first movie is about Gollum . Hype levels have plummeted. I have faith that they'll try to do their best but man I really hate how they've approached this franchise. More and more I think Christopher Tolkein was right when he talked about negative aspects about the mass commercialization of his father's work.

Seems like another soulless Disney remake. I think some of the shine has rubbed off now and I really doubt it'll be nearly as profitable as the Lion King remake

Personally I don't think Anya Taylor-Joy is the best casting for a young Furiosa and the first trailer I saw didn't exactly raise my hopes. But I trust George Miller to do his best with this so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Definitely not to scale 😀. I agree Bojack Horseman improves dramatically very quickly to become an absolutely phenomenal show.

The old Fleischer Superman cartoons were amazing. I watched them a few years ago and was blown away. So I'm looking forward to watching some of these restored shorts once they're available.

What are the differences between Lemmy and Mbin?

I like this a lot in general. It is reminiscent of old reddit which is a style I like. Unfortunately it suffers from the same major issue I have with old reddit. Namely that the content is left aligned and there is just a crazy amount of white space. It's probably not an issue for many, but as someone who has a large 4k monitor, it means my neck is constantly turned to the left if I have my browser in full-screen mode. Centering the content some would be greatly beneficial. Hacker News and Lobsters do this, although imo HN could be better about it.
