Are you doing a bit?

Cuz that's a Karl Marx quote.

Are you sure? Reagan’s picture is right there and it says his name.

Reagan also forced CA gun laws (Mulford Act) after the Black Panthers started, ya know, being armed

[–] Sulv@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I thought that was Arnold Schwarzenegger

What? I always thought Reagan was cool

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 9 points 5 days ago

Any time you thought he was doing something cool, he was quoting Abraham Lincoln.

Guns for me, not for thee

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 25 points 5 days ago

Why would he be quoting notable conservative Karl Marx?

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 23 points 5 days ago

Pretty sure this is a Shinzo Abe quote actually

Unironically yes

no one on here likes a little silly gag I suppose

I don't think it is a good idea to attribute quotes by communist thinkers to liberals. It helps to maintain liberal hegemony, while the only thing you get out of this is the smug expression.

[–] Sulv@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Let me have fun

If you know anybody who likes Reagan you can send this to them, and when they take the bait you can have a smug expression too!

This is just "owning the libs" approach, it is counterproductive. You only entrench people's biases further and make conversations about socialism harder.

I think you’re taking it a bit seriously shrug-outta-hecks

It’s essentially a meme, but I’ve had stuff removed from /c/memes for not “technically” being a meme, so I posted it here.

In this clown world everything is a joke, so we looped back to everything being serious.

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

How the fuck is Reagan a liberal???

[–] InappropriateEmote@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago

Reagan was the sitting US president that literally ushered in neoliberalism! He was the quintessential liberal. Just because you've been raised (I'm guessing in the US) to believe in the false dichotomy that liberals and conservatives are polar opposites, this is in fact not at all true. "Conservatives" are just one branch of liberal, not their antithesis. Reagan was a hardcore liberal, may he rest in piss.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 15 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

They mean liberal as in the actual definition of the word not liberal in rhe way America uses it

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Reagan was a secret liberal stealth republican. He pioneered the no fault divorce which won over "conservatives" that wanted to do the 3-4 ex wives thing, and he appealed to liberals in doing this. Then he set up the downfall of the USA like a true republican.

[–] Liberteez@lemm.ee 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You think taking a less conservative position on a single issue made him a liberal governor/president?

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 14 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Liberal as in the actual definition in political theory. Not how US pundits and the people who learn everything they know from them use it.

If only it wasn't also the one who put in gun control because he was scared of black people open carrying
