Got the phone back! I tried it this morning and it was on the move through Heidelberg. I thought it's obviously still on the bus! I tracked it through the suburbs until it was near my place and went out to the bus stop, caught that bus and found it wedged down between the seat and the wall! It was so exciting! Hey, I'm a middle aged mum, it's the most exciting thing I've done all year! The bus driver was kind enough to wait at the stop for me to search for it as well. Wonder how often they clean the buses tho..

There is no better detective than Mum on a mission! Well done!!!

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago

Oh man, that's a feel of excitedrelief that you can ride all week

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

That's just impressive. It's great when things like this happen and everything works out

A random cat is in my back yard and the local birds are all panicking. Rather unusual coat pattern.

My daughter helped a relo out with his banking because he freaked out a bit. She says to me "Mum, he doesn't know how banking works but he knows how to get on Tinder". I couldn't stop laughing. πŸ˜‚

I was chatting to someone the other day and they go "i'm no good with computers!" and I was like "huh. looks like you got an iphone there champ" and they go "oh yeah I can use an iphone just fine". Ok so its not that your no good with computers its that you dont want to be.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The thing with computers is if you don't use them all the time then you forgot how to do shit.

I can show you how to do a crochet stitch and a week later ask you to do it again and you'd probably fail. Repetition is what's needed to remember stuff.

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Also, you get used to things then they change it all in the upgrades. Boo!

Wore heels for the first time in many forevers yesterday. Now have a confused mix of toes that ache and ones I can't feel properly. Hope this isn't cause for actual concern.

Wake was a very fine send off indeed. Don't think the cafe staff knew what hit them.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wore stupidly high heels to my wedding many years ago and could not feel a couple of my toes for weeks. Feeling eventually returned and I still have all my toes, so I guess that means it's ok?

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago

These probably don't even count as heels to many. I've never been a spike person, but being out of practice on even such low things seems to matter now.

Cheers for the advice on the second hand backpack. Got a bellroy classic in near new nick for 85 bucks, normally 220. No shame in jumping in at that price point.

Don’t you love when you have a banh mi place that every time you get one you’re just, like, β€œthis is the best banh mi I’ve ever had”? Also love when you’re eating a banh mi and you get that moment when you’re staring down a chilli thinking it won’t be so bad but also know it’s going to punch your mouth up in the most delicious of ways?

I’m a happy girl.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago (11 children)

Yes but lately I've been making my own. That way I can put as much coriander and crackle as I like without asking.

My latest (made with roast pork. Not belly)

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

put as much coriander

Yuss!

Don't listen to the people with the genetic coriander soap thing it's their loss.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 points 2 weeks ago

ewwww. It tastes like soap

yeah. I bet your mummy cuts the crusts off your sandwiches

boss yeah I'm gonna send ya a couple servers to configure.
me: aight.
boss: I need them done by tomorrow
me: doable, but you're building an 8tb stripe, that alone is gonna take about five hours jsyk.
boss: also I have just realised you go on leave next week so I want everything possible done right now. Even things that can wait. Even things that aren't anywhere near being implemented.
boss: I am going to send you every email under the conceivable fucking sun and demand you answer them instead of building my servers.
boss: I'm also gonna let a client scream at you about something I did
boss: and I'm gonna ask you if you've done something that I explicitly said I'd do three weeks ago
boss: and then I'm gonna send you another couple servers.
boss: I want these ready to ship to client tomorrow.

Noooooo. Was meant to dump my bags by the door and head back out to buy groceries but somehow managed to lock myself out even though this unit door doesn't actually self-lock... actually idk how it worked because normally you can only lock it from the inside after the door is shut, and you can only lock it from the outside with a key...

Anyway, thank fuck my friend who lives down the road and has my spare keys is on his way back from a site out east, and crucially, has NOT yet left for a 4 day work trip to Halls Gap.

Sitting in the shopping centre across the road staying warm and enjoying supermarket dolmades. It's tempting to buy a bag of chips but I really have a protein craving more than anything else.

E: back in. No fish curry for me tonight. But I'll be sure as hell making it tomorrow. Old lil eggplants, fresh green beans, 4-year-old Baba's fish curry powder, oΓ±ons, bitta tomato paste and coconut milk.

Have discovered it is possible to spend silly amounts of money on screen doors.

Then went to the plant nursery. Ouch, and did not buy the life size cheetah statue.

[–] bacon@aussie.zone 10 points 2 weeks ago

finally got my black puffer

The cats are booked in the resort for Easter Holiday. The rates are unholy over this time period.

Decided to clean out the bottom shelf of the pantry - we rarely use it.

Guess where the little flies were coming from πŸ˜πŸ’€ never leaving tea in there ever, EVER AGAIN.

Cleaned out now and sprayed in there, and wiped down the front so the cat doesn't get sick.

I'm HORRIFIED, everything has been chucked.

Edit: to be VERY CLEAR: I am not a filthy person! I'm messy, but not filthy. That has NEVER happened to me before 😭😭😭

Thought I was having a good day till I discovered my id tag fell out of the holder on a lanyard.

I might have to foot the bill to replace it :(

christ I love it when customers try and throw their dick around "Raaar none of our other suppliers needed this data" like they fucking know what they're doing.

You don't sound big mate. You sound like an absolute cock who has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. Sit the fuck down.

One of my new favorite cooking techniques is to brown the chicken thigh first before slow cooking (as discovered doing the apricot chicken a few weeks back). Trying it with Japanese curry tonight. Recipe I read said 6 hours on low, but you wouldn't do the apple/potato/carrot that long would you? I was thinking 3-4 hours max.

Back at work after having most of last week off due to family. Spent my time getting ready considering what I could cut back on/do differently in order to reduce life costs if I just happened to trip and quit, issa a vibe!

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

Woohoo I love early work shifts. Heading home at four instead of 730 feels like I'm getting out of prison years before I'm supposed to

Little vid from yesterday from the pt. lonsdale lighthouse overlooking the pier / Rip. Shitty phone cam so excuse that (can mute it it's just wind / white noise). But it was wild.

I went on the pier and a biggish wave hit, made a fair few people freak out lol. Pier moved pretty violently so most of us got out of there pretty quickly.

On the way back surfers were rushing in with a smile on their faces a day after 18 ppl got swept out. Different breed.

I’m still so fricking nauseous 🀒 Surely after 4 days I’d feel better.

Melbcat is sooky too so I should probably get her checked out again.

The pumpkins are getting chunkier and more yellow. The golden nuggets are probably going to die before setting anything - the smallest slowest plant probably will. But I’m hoping that even if not ripe enough to eat, the jack be littles might at least get big enough for a nice photo piled in a dish.

(It’s hard to tell which are which over the progress shots but I’ve now started just taking pics of the biggest ones)

spoiler

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Green/underripe pumpkin can be eaten if cooked. Not as much pumpkiny flavour - more like apple but perfectly edible and def not poisonous.

Also, next weekend is going to be warm at 28 deg/29 deg so just may continue to ripen a bit more.

I've been thinking about the concept of 'Coworker music' ever since I watched a video on it. The idea is generic or bad music that coworkers listen to, never yourself of course.

I'll have music on at work and ask myself, 'Could this be considered coworker music?' I have a specific taste in music so I don't think it falls into generic coworker music, but when you get into subcategories of 'a type of guy' my music definitely falls into a 'type of coworker' subgenre.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Co-worker music has a lot of layers to it.

Generally I would imagine Triple M and Fox/Nova music would fall into the category. Having worked with younger people that listen to Triple J (like I used to in my 20's and early 30s), pretty much all the current stuff played there would fall into the same category for me.

Personally I welcome a new way to judge people 😁
