I'm sure I've read this before but I cannot remember the source - would you mind sharing where it's from?

Don't these people fucking GET it?? Trump's supporters are NOT policy oriented!! They just care that he's in office!!

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They "want less government".

They want what they are told to want

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 3 points 15 hours ago

This, so much.

Every strategy from his generation of Democrat boils down to "let's not do anything."

I made the mistake of donating to a candidate once and I’ve gotten never ending spam texts from the Democrat machine ever since and from what I can tell they seem to get a lot more money during things like this where people are outraged at what Republicans are doing.

So it would seem to me that the financial wellbeing of that organization thrives under the current conditions. To actually fix anything is bad for their business.

It's crazy how on-the-nose The Good Place was with the good guy committee. "It's clear what we need to do: give up all our leverage, and give them whatever they want."

I just finished rewatching that show the other day. I was surprised at how well it aged. The Elon Musk insults slapped and it made references to a Trump presidency.

The Good Place? Classic 80s sitcom The Good Place (TV Series 2016-2020) made references to the 45th President of the United States, Donald John Trump, January 20, 2017 – January 20, 2021? That's remarkable foresight for a 40 year old tv series.

The democrats have been saying for over a decade now that the "fever will break". As if suddenly all those voters will realize they've been screwed over by the republicans instead of just digging in harder. Schumer is just the latest schmuck to have the same views. I really hope he gets primaried.

Right? Conservatives blame "the left" for the things conservatives do to them. Letting them do it only make's everything worse and worse.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

What do you mean even the Dem conservatives are accelerationists now?

I fucking hate this timeline.

Still acting like there's ever going to be a (meaningful) election again.

If I were a betting man, it's just Schumer buying time. He knows the party has been cast as paid opposition and just wants a couple more years of straight chilling before he has to run interference for the GOP again.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I'm starting to think the dems might actually not be controlled opposition, because controlled opposition would say least try to hide it.

Lord knows the supreme court would recognize party capture and one party control as free speech

“But first, let me do my book tour and rake in some mo’ of that sweet sweet dough”

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 9 points 1 day ago

Oooof, will trumps face be (more) red in 2028!

[–] Arbiter@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

“We’re going to fight them by giving them everything they want, what could go wrong?”

[–] answersplease77@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It's a better plan to just wait and not do shit until 2028. That would make the republicans look even stupider!! Then we laugh at them! Hahaha
