Forsaken it, unless it comes up in my google searches for something I need help with. I dont have an account anymore, so I just read when I do have to go there.

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 9 points 9 months ago

I’m hardware ID permabanned for making fun of worldnews mods but I browse r/TrueAnon still

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

Hardware ID permabanned? That is not possible

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

every account I ever logged into on multiple devices was banned, new accounts I make on any of those devices is banned immediately after creating the account.

[-] NewLeaf@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Do you give them you're email address? I thought I was IP banned and then I made an account to follow a bands touring subreddit, and they still haven't dinged me yet. I just didn't register my email

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

Different temp emails for each

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago

Create it using Tor and a vpn

There's no good alternative for discussion of soccer in America, specifically MLS and USL.

cw

spoilerpeople talk about SV too much on reddit, i pretty much only look at fantasy fiction, gardening, and comics sort of stuff lmao, just innocent little side hobbies where that shit never shows up. i almost quit hexbear when it first started out because there was an obsession on extolling SV ALL THE TIME without any warning, making it a hostile environment for people who experienced SV. stuff like epstein and kavanaugh jokes. one user would make a post every day about kavanaugh and i was halfway to hunting them down irl. im glad that the site has grown past this and the mods remove stuff that dont have nsfw and content tags so i can actually interact with leftist discussion and news.

[-] alexandra_kollontai@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

thanks for sticking around kristina, I value your contributions a lot

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

volcel-vanguard may annoy some people but I think the concept and how it's been playing out have been for the best, considering those prior issues.

[-] let_me_tank_her@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

use it for sports subs and a couple video games. the moment they get rid of old.reddit i'm gone tho

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

why cant you just use the newer version?

[-] let_me_tank_her@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

the mobile site seems to eat comments and messes up the sorting if you look at more than 100 comments and doesn't load all comments when looking at a series of comments. it's just a pain to navigate.

[-] ferristriangle@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

New reddit is a worse user experience designed around how to best serve ads.

[-] DayOfDoom@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

BlackEpsteinFeed and r/emulation are about it. Also when troubleshooting or researching stuff, unfortunately.

[-] TheWorldSpins@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

r/crackwatch is still useful. Never click on the comments.

[-] Blapoo@lemmy.ml 6 points 9 months ago

Total burn. When a product pulls bullshit, it dies for me: Facebook, Activision, reddit, Nestlé, Elon Musk

Baiiiiii

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 8 points 9 months ago

Elon Musk is a billionaire. He is automatic trash

[-] flan@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago

sometimes i go on it when im mad and feel like arguing with people without any care for being banned. just to blow off steam.

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago
[-] Cummunism@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

i do, over and over again, but if you just use a website like https://temp-mail.org/en/ and verify the account, they seem to not give a shit. If you try to make an account without an email address youll get shadowbanned in a couple days.

[-] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 5 points 9 months ago

I think I've made like 4 posts on Reddit since finding out about this place. It had become one of those places I used to go to for the sole purpose of getting angry. So I dropped it, just like all the other sites I'd visit to get angry.

[-] blakeus12@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

when I was super duper duper bored i would browse and see the brainworms

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago
[-] facow@hexbear.net 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Worms that reside in the brain. See below

brainworms

[-] SankaranSpy@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

I need further explanation

[-] ferristriangle@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I'd imagine its origin is similar to how old clothes left in storage can end up being eaten apart by moths after not being used for so long and is filled with holes when you finally take it out of storage?

The analogy being that brainworms are what happens when people haven't used their brain in a long time, don't think through the things they believe and so on. Their brain is simply filled with whatever has happened to worm its way in there, like Q-Anon conspiracy shit and the like.

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

I deleted my account a long time ago. I still browse Trueanon, some circlejerk subreddits, and subreddits for specific games.

[-] SwitchyWitchyandBitchy@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

Once in a while I need to use Reddit to find info that I need but I no longer browse. Apollo getting killed made it easy to dump. Even before, I’d really only ever browse r/traa and some other queer subs.

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 9 months ago

Allah forgive me for this but I check /r/games on libreddit once a day. Sometimes /r/liverpoolfc and /r/crackwatch.

[-] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

I check in on my city's sub (it sucks but sometimes there's good info) but that's it.

[-] NoLeftLeftWhereILive@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

I deleted my account, but admit that I do go there to read the /deprogram and /covid19 stuff sometimes. Every time there is some horrible reactionary local brainworm infested nationalism posts and such on the opening page that seems to show me stuff based on location.

[-] InappropriateEmote@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

The only time I go to reddit anymore is if someone on hexbear links to it. ppb-gigachad

To be honest, I also sometimes visit it if I "google" something (duckduckgo actually) and the most relevant results that turn up are reddit posts. Unfortunately that happens a lot.

Also, I saw @Weedian@hexbear.net mentioning he got hardware banned and you were skeptical. That is definitely a thing. Reddit does all kinds of shady shit like that that you never hear about. For example, I am vote-banned. Any account I make with any device I used back when r/chapotraphouse got banned does not have the ability to upvote or downvote. Reddit took away my god given democratic right to vote rage-cry

[-] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I mostly stopped using Reddit after CTH got banned. I would still lurk and occasionally comment on some niche subs I liked like r/HobbyDrama, but now I'm pretty much done unless someone links me to something over there

[-] NewAcctWhoDis@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

Only from google results.

[-] Beaver@hexbear.net 3 points 9 months ago

I use a few specific subreddits. The front page is easy to ignore, since it's shit

[-] Emprx@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

I haven't went there since Relay became subscription based, but I can see myself searching "spotify cracked reddit" when I need it.

[-] dudewitbow@lemmy.ml 2 points 9 months ago

Only like 4 subreddits, effectively in read only mode (i never post/comment on reddit amymore)

[-] ElGosso@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

I still use it pretty regularly shrug-outta-hecks I like to argue

[-] Grebgreb@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

Only try to check the trueanon sub occasionally however none of the redirects consistently work. Search results also usually end up there which is incredibly annoying.

[-] ilyenkov@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

It sucks, but I still use it for what I've been using it for for the past couple years (a few hobby subs)

[-] Mokey@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago

Only for niche news on a topic im interested in thats about it

[-] Tychoxii@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago

actually forsook it, wish i could say i did it to touch grass

[-] duderium@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago

Twitter is dying and I’ve found nowhere else where I can so easily dunk on libs. I was off reddit for years but now I’m back, baby, at least until I get banned again.

[-] spectre@hexbear.net 1 points 9 months ago

I was basically in r/cth and maybe a few other subs by 2018 or so, eventually becoming just r/cth. After 2020 I still had an account which I'd use maybe a couple times a month for a brief scroll. Nothing has really been engaging since we were banned. Since June I think I browsed one or two times.
