Listen to what? What are the demands?

If this isn't going viral on mainstream social media, I fear there won't be much use to posting it here.

[–] Azzu@lemm.ee 26 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It's more use posting it here than not posting it here. People here can see it and share on traditional social media.

However the question is if there are any labor organizations officially participating in this. If not, this seems a bit weird. And what are the actual demands? Change to what? These are the bigger problems than the location of the post.

[–] subignition@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

I suppose that's fair, there are just a lot of people here who are here because they quit traditional social media.

Also known as a general strike. All the best for you!

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 day ago

I fear by mid March we'll already be screwed.

Hitting capitalists in the wallet is the only way to get them to change course.

Doesn’t matter what our ‘demands’ are or what they need to ‘listen to’ and we don’t need a perfectly written manifesto to protest these fucks destroying lives and our country’s support systems.

Don’t fall for the whiners saying it won’t do anything. If the wheels stop turning, even for a couple days, it will hurt the things they care about (money) and send a powerful message.

[–] fine_sandy_bottom@discuss.tchncs.de -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It won't do anything.

Whatever people don't buy on the 15th will simply be bought on the 16th.

Guaranteed the capitalists you're trying to contact won't even notice.

Roll over and die then while the rest of us fight.

[–] fine_sandy_bottom@discuss.tchncs.de -2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Oh my sweet summer child.

This is hyperbole which doesn't help anyone.

"Fighting" at every opportunity just runs you down. As in all things you need to pick your battles and I fear that this isn't the right one to pick.

Take your patronizing elsewhere. I'm almost 50 and a military veteran. I have no time for weak minded people or propagandists trying to get everyone to lay down and accept what's going on.

In fact why are you even posting in this sub if you just want to do nothing? Suspect.

[–] fine_sandy_bottom@discuss.tchncs.de -1 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

I always find it kinda pathetic when people quote credentials in an anonymous platform. Like is it supposed to mean something that you're a military veteran, even if that is true?

The phrase "my sweet summer child" does not refer to your age in years. I'll reiterate that you do seem to have the perspective of an innocent child believing that everything can be fixed by avoiding buying macdonalds for a day.

As a military veteran your countless hours in armed conflicts would no doubt inform you that you can't just go charging off into the darkness with no plan and no support. You need to consider your resources, strategise your campaign, rally supporters, and adopt positions you know you can defend without casualties.

Shutdown 315 will fail and most of the people who support it will lose hope and won't be involved next time round. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this type of thing were a project 2025 initiative. It would be a good move if it were.

Read this fucking comment section. A bunch of losers who won't contribute a damn thing to making change happen.

Good grief.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 0 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

A lot of losers in this thread think that literally anything mildly disruptive brings about change. That's not how it works. Change is from paperwork and ballots, not fire and empty shelves.

[–] LordKitsuna@lemmy.world 0 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Name one time in history that actual meaningful change was not a direct result of violence in some way

How about you shut this shit down right fucking now. I don’t think we all want to suffer for another six weeks. Hell I don’t even think you’ve got another six weeks.

Speaking as an outsider here but Jesus America, enough is enough already. The best time to act was three months ago, the second best time is now.

[–] S3verin@slrpnk.net 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Organising takes time, if you dont do it together it wont work.

[–] metoosalem@feddit.org -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I would argue you could stop going to work and stop giving them money today and people will catch on to that.

Your democracy is on the line how many more excuses do you want to make?

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

These things need to be organised and gain momentum. Fuck all people are going to “stop work today”. Pretty much asking people to risk financial ruin on the promise that “we will be there tomorrow too, promise bro”.

[–] UnkTheUnk@midwest.social 0 points 1 day ago (4 children)

how about you stop posting about it with a PNG on a forum that gets like 20k visitors a month (high end) and go talk to your neighbors and coworkers about doing something more directly local?

[–] UnkTheUnk@midwest.social 3 points 1 day ago

I guarantee you there are local politicians in your area who absolutely suck shit, who have established enemies, who aren't as secure in their positions as they think they are

go learn who they are and make their lives hell.
