Reddit Sub Ban Wave (www.reddit.com)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by ashaman2007@lemm.ee to c/meta@lemm.ee

Reddit just banned a ton of LGBTQ+ and NSFW subs, I imagine a bunch of people will be heading this way!

Can we not advertise lemmy.world this time? The entire point is to decentralize so ban waves like this don't affect too many people.

[–] UniversalMonk@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Agreed! World instance is as bad as Reddit

Hello! I'm new to Lemmy, originally during the Reddit exodus when 3rd party apps got shafted (RIP Apollo) I joined kbin but the dev has since gone dark and I unfortunately found myself back on reddit.

Im trans and with this whole NSFW ban and trans subreddits getting banned I'm back.

Does anyone know any good trans specific communities (what are these called here? Sublemmies?) on Lemmy? They don't have to be specific to the lemm.ee instance!

TIA

Hi, also a trans person and chiming in to say Hexbear is the most transgender place on the internet 😎

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Its also the most tankie place on the internet so not all sunshine and rainbows.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

That would be Lemmygrad.ml

So technically we're second most tankiest

We're just the most largest one.

Ur lucky my liberal attitude is tolerant of ur stupidity.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

If "tankie" means general leftist, ie Anarchists included, then maybe. If "tankie" means Marxist-Leninist, then that's Lemmygrad.ml

Lemmy.blahaj.zone or Hexbear.net (depending on your politics)

For the latter, a good community is

c/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

(Note: yes, c/ means community or just comm for short)

There's also the transgender community in Lemmy.ml

[–] Khlo@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I managed to find c/traaaa@Hexbear.net and subscribed. Thank you!

[–] Khlo@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

(I'm just testing linking to communities on different instances)

!traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns@Hexbear.net

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 years ago

The two biggest spaces for trans users are lemmy.blahaj.zone and hexbear.net, hexbear is larger but is explicitly Communist/Anarchist, while blahaj is more liberal/progressive.

You can find communities here. Check out the communities on lemmy.blahaj.zone or pawb.social . You might find what you're looking for there.

Get Voyager, it’s an app like Apollo was for Reddit.

It has a pretty good community search function that works across instances. You’ll find a lot doing it that way.

[–] Khlo@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago

Im replying from Voyager now and this just straight up feels and looks almost exactly like I remember Apollo. I could cry tears of joy 🥲

[–] CTDummy@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Didn’t go back to reddit and am not trans but I just wanted say, otherwise your journey has been exactly the same as mine! From Kbin to lemm.ee and RIP apollo indeed. There’s a lot of trans friendly comms and instances in general. 196 may be a familiar name and the blahaj instance in general seems trans friendly. Depends on what type of comms you’re looking for. Check out voyager if you haven’t already, very reminiscent of Apollo. Welcome back.

[–] Khlo@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Ill have to check out voyager! I'm using Sync at the moment since I recognized the name. Thank you for the recommendation!

[–] GreyGoo@lemm.ee 18 points 2 years ago (4 children)

I just got banned from there for the last fuxking time, over the most benign comment, so yeh im making this my new home, feels weird but ill get used to it.

[–] Lyra@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Check out the mobile clients that also moved over last time. Boost and Sync are great.

[–] petter1nsfw@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 years ago

And voyager!

[–] DigitalNirvana@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

Glad you made it. It’s a lovely community we’re creating. And we need everyone’s input to make it happen inclusively.

Why I'm coming over here 18 years on reddit and they have pissed me off that badly

if they even are aware of Lemmy. from what I've read, Reddit is quick to delete any mentions of it

[–] thezeesystem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Tell your friends to tell everyone you know who's LGBT I posted in all my places to tell them all we have lemmy witch is far better. Reddit and block it but can't block others from spreading the Lemmy word

[–] Khlo@lemm.ee 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

I'm trans and new here! Looking for different trans/LGBTQ communities to follow, any suggestions?

[–] thezeesystem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 years ago

Blahaj instance is the place I go to the most for LGBT stuff, don't really have much recommendations as I tend to browse my "all" feed.

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 2 points 2 years ago

Resolved because it was a "bug". lol. Most people probably won't switch.

[–] Tramort@programming.dev 1 points 2 years ago

Every reddit user should consider r/redditseppuku

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 years ago

Other than just knowing that things continue to decline (everywhere), who cares? I guess I do, cause I'm taking the time to comment. But it's all downhill, everywhere, from here.
