RULES (updated 01/22/25)
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

I'm a welding apprentice and I just started aluminum MIG yesterday. Today will be continued practive. After work, assuming I'm not entirely exhausted, I'll be working on writing a D&D campaign for my players.
I’ve accepted that I will never be able to have the focus to write another campaign again because ADD, but I have a DM file with dozens of NPCs, plot hooks, and locations to add color to a campaign. Let me know if you want anything to drop in
Thanks, but I have thr same thing. ChatGPT can be a wonderful tool if used correctly.
I have a d100 list for diseases, curses, mundane magic items, cursed magic items, NPCs, random encounters, and so on.
Whenever my players stray off the campaign, I have plenty to continue the game seamlessly.
Thats super cool, good luck with both!
Good luck!!!
I'm gunna finish this coffee, feed the cats and then spend all day in my CNC workshop finishing up a big project, a really kickass frame for an old autographed TOOL album, Opiate, I've been meaning to frame for over 13 years. I might even fire up the smoker and make some ribs. Wife is out of town on a business trip so I'll prolly drink a bunch of beer, fire up some of that sticky-icky, and go through a bunch of my favorite early 90's G-funk albums.
If the roads are okay to drive, definitely going out for a hike today. It keeps me sane
I hope you have a lovely hike! ☺️ I need to get back to going on my walk consistently every day again
I wouldn’t last long if I tried for a daily regimen, I’d fail so hard by maybe Saturday of week 1
For me, it’s 1-2 times a week for 3-6 mile day hikes. Gives me something to look forward to later which is important because it’s mildly addictive to get out and away from concrete and people. I savor it more when structured like that and it’s easier to keep the habit going.
Not to say one habit is better or whatever. But maybe if daily isn’t sustainable for you, mix it up
Most places you can hike aren't open when I'm awake due to a sleep disorder (I'm only awake at night), so for me small daily walks work best. I don't have very far I can go unless I wanna drive somewhere like a closed shopping center, so I usually walk 15-45 minutes (one loop around my complex is 15min, usually I do one or two loops)
For me the benefit is less getting away from other people, my sleep schedule is very isolating so I have plenty of alone time 😅. But it's good to get out of my head and move my body for a while :)
Goood morning!! Today I ~have~ ~to~ ~work~ ~long~ ಥ_ಥ
(Not sure if every lemmy frontend can display subscript)
On my app I just see the tildes.
by subscript do you mean the two eyes? then yes I can see it. also good luck at work!
No it means ~small text~
It reads as strikethrough text on my browser :(
Noticed that on Mbin it's indeed strikethrough :( this is how I intended it to look (on voyager app):
Weird, strikethrough is simliar but only by having double of the tildes. ~~Does this~~ ~look the same to~ ~~you~~?
Reference for how it should look like:
sadly in lemmy's own default web UI having space's between the subscript text will just render normal text with tildes on both sides. That's why I put tildes around every word. I recall there was a discussion half a year ago how every app / frontend has a bit different levels of support for markdown.
Yeah, i had to learn that the hard way :/ I think it's because it isn't standard markdown.
ahh thought that was already part of standard markdown :( hope they extend the markdown definition soon. It's getting crazy how many "flavours" there are!
I hope so too, but knowing how slow important standards are to update (understandably), we may not see it in a while, lol
Very true lol!
Yes, “Does this look the same to you?” Is strikethrough.
If you're on the default Lemmy ui they don't implement it since it's not standard markdown, only some clients do
oh then yes I can also see that too.
Its bedtime for me but tomorrow I'm hoping to check in with someone about an upcoming date, get through some todos, and think about what I need to do to prepare for said date ☺️
(We're going to an arcade!)
Morning I have work learning Elixir/Phoenix and waiting on an Amazon delivery so I can solve a few issues throughout the day. Last warm day of the week then it gets cold so I'm going to try and get some late night gardening prep done
I have work and then NOTHING. I am ready to go back to bed lol.
I’m gonna go to the gym, and then study. I have two exams next week 😔
I've got one job to do this morning, which should take me a couple of hours to complete. Then I'll do tax prep paperwork for a couple more hours, then go over to my elderly parents and replace one of their toilets.
Once I do that I'll come home and post about my day on DullMensClub
Be broke and homeless, same as everyday. Gotta figure out how to feed two people all day on less than $2 😔
If you live in the us and haven't considered making a trip to a food bank that might be a really helpful resource
Sending love from my part of the world to yours my friend 🫂
I have nowhere to store or cook food 😐
That definitely does make things a lot harder, but there may still be some items there that would work well, and if you have to waste extra of some items ultimately that's much better than you and your other mouth going completely hungry- it may be worth taking a look
A loaf of sandwich bread and some peanutbuter isn't amazing but it's calorie dense and both are okay at room temperature
I'm wishing you luck, thats a brutal and soul sucking place to find yourself
Gotta start the day early with some data scrubbing. One of our ETL processes is fucked and I’ve been tasked with figuring out how to fix it.
What is an ETL process?
Extract, Transform, Load - 3 steps to move data from one place to another
Interesting, thank you!
Good luck :)
Good morning! No specific plans on my side!
Survive. So cold. Such a bad night of sleep. Ugh. I hate mornings like this.
I'm so sorry you didn't sleep well. :(
Finish up putting together my floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in my living room and putting all my new furniture and accessories together. I ordered everything for Amazon. It's awesome!
