I can't blame the customer here. Ya, that's the USB in the Ethernet port.

Explanation: This HP printer does have a USB port.
It's deactivated in the firmware, and hidden underneath the label with the crossed-out USB symbol.

They want end consumers to only have the WiFi option with mandatory online registration and telemetry.
But enterprise customers need the USB port.

So HP makes the exact same printer for both, but deactivates and covers the USB port on models sold to consumers.
Because that's cheaper in production than making 2 separate models.

Wonder if there's a way to flash the firmware or something to re-enable it. I still wouldn't use an HP printer but would be nice to find out.

Lol they got close at least

Hp is so shit now. Seen like 10 stop working strictly from software in the last 2 years.

Went to download a driver for a ladies older hp. The driver download was a link to hp smart. Trying to pigeon hole users to making account/ subscription tit.

It would print via hp smart diagnostic pages. Not through windows printer and scanner menu. "Attention required" no other error. Diagnostic page came out with 0 issue. Via wifi physical another story.

They're cunts.

I bought an HP printer and found out it didn't have a USB port and will stop printing if you don't register it. Never again.

Is that really so bad? It is not like you need a printer to actually print.

I went with an Epson Ecotank. Cried a little at first (that price tag had hands..) but it's paid for itself.

I bought the HP Smart Tank version (how bad could it be I thought) and it sucks. Doesn't need cartridges but is garbage in every other way. Like, needs manual help feeding the first few pages bad.
