Have to remind myself these all have stereo and misi when I see the price tags. The EHX Eddy and JHS 3 Series chorus are much more price friendly otherwise.
I used to have EHX Good Vibes that I really liked but I couldn't get it to work with anything but the included power supply. Ended up getting rid of it.
It's hard for me to justify a Uni-Vibe pedal in this price range but this sounds great and Strymon almost always kills it.
Have definitely heard horror stories of the EHX 9.6v power supply shenanigans. I've fortunately not had any issue with either the Pitch Fork or the Soul Food.
I've been there myself. Good Vibes sounded great but stupid power requirement.
So, I picked one of these up, a week after release. My local shop had 5 come in, and I got the last one. This pedal is way more flexible than any other vibe style effect I've tried. With bias low, depth and speed high, it gets a nice choppy trem-like effect, reminiscint of fender opto-tremolo from deluxe Reverb and others. The pedal is legit. Usually digital univibe sounds pretty fake to me, but this one has mojo. I need to find someone to lend me a drybell to shoot it out with...
Thanks for a great description. I'm curious, have you tried the JHS Unicorn? I really prefer analog stuff and I know that uses a photo cell. Really curious to compare it with this Strymon. Univibe is my favorite effect so I don't mind splurging but I can't keep using my MD-500 for Univibe, it aint right on that thing.
