Now that that's out of the way, I completely agree with him (I think this is a first). I'm just some normal guy. I don't own a business or anything, but I have no plans to cross the border again. I've lived in SW Ontario most of my life, and I've been across the border many many times. With Trump and his cultist's xenophobia and general aggression towards anyone non-white, non-christian, non-get-on-your-knees-and-suck-him-dry, I don't feel safe over there anymore.
Seriously the US government and its supporters can go to hell.
It's not just border cities.
I haven't visited the US since 2016.
Pretty sure I never will again.
I've easily been there a few hundred times (grew up 30 minutes from NF/Buffalo, vacationed in Fla, Ca, New England, Myrtle Beach, NM...numerous NHL cities, oh well...)
My plan to take my kids back down to Disney is on hold until at least 2029 at this point, we'll re-assess at that point.
Looking at a Europe trip instead this year or next.
Disney in Paris, win win, oui?
I disliked Paris when I was there last, looking at maybe hitting up Tomorrowland in Belgium instead.
Paris has had quite the face lift in the last few years, with massive expansion of parks and cycling infrastructure and heavy restrictions of car traffic. You may be pleasantly surprised.
I was there for the Olympics. A few of my coworkers had been a few years back, hated it, and made absolutely sure I knew how shit of a time I'd have, how there's no decent food(c'est quoi ce bordel?!) and I'd probably be mugged like the one guy. I had....an absolute blast. Some of the best food I've had in ages, we were in Oberkampf in the 11th. No complaints. Well, I could actually complain that we weren't there long enough.
I haven't been to the states in over a decade. The only reason I went there was because of work. Not looking to go back.
Open threats of forceful annexation will do that.
I don't think it is forceful - Trump said it would be economic - I guess offering "deal" Canada cannot refuse. I think he is bluffing at this point - clearly this is just in his head. If there is a concrete plan of some EU-style economic union with mostly political autonomy, I think it may be beneficial to Canada - the reality is that Canada cannot prosper without relying on the USA.

we've been "common law married" for 100+ years. "You don't get to eat unless I have the fuller authority given to me by official marriage" is an extortion that is violent/unwelcome. Marrying the US comes with having to pay its huge credit card debt.
After a quick look at your history, if you like America so much maybe you should just go there. I'm not dignifying the rest with a response.
That a weird reaction... What history? Nothing to add to the point? What would be bad in economic free trade union? Lots of Canadians I talked to are dreaming of moving to the states, BTW - lower cost of living and higher wages.
That makes me wonder if you even are Canadian.
