I'm currently running a Roku that's been neutered with piHole. I only allow my Samsung frame internet access to change the pictures on it. I will do whatever it takes to not have ads shoved up my ass everywhere I go in my house. I'm seriously debating gutting an echo show to see if I can drive the screen/speaker off a raspberry pi. I really wouldn't mind using llama as a voice assistant with Piper and Wyoming.
My setup:
Raspberry pi3 running pihole on my network.
Onn Google TV 4K streaming box
Once I strip/delete/disable as much bull crap preloaded apps off of it, I install projectivity launcher It does take a little tweaking to get it to be the default launcher (they hide the options in accessibility settings on Google/Android TV)
After that, Smart tube gets installed. This gives me ad-free YouTube.
I know those Onn streaming boxes seem a little too good to be true, but they actually work fantastic for the price.
Google really can’t help themselves anymore.
